... don't even think for a minute of trying to stick up for Jess Sinclair after tonight.

If someone did that in a Hawthorn guernsey I'd be down at the club wanting him gone. And you people should feel the same way, I'd hope.

I'll stick up for him. He without a doubt ****ed up, but I'd say it was a brain explosion rather than a premeditated strike. He's one of the least likely to dish out one of those and has been until now a clean ball player. Doubt we'll see a repeat performance.

He'll take his medicine and we'll see him back in April 2004.

BTW - hope the young Hawk on the receiving end is OK and didn't get any serious injuries.

they didnt show the incident at the game, and i didnt see it live, but liam pickering on MMM said that he would prob get 6 weeks for whatever he did. has a squeaky clean record which might lessen the blow.

fu(k right off *****head. Yes he did wrong but Im sure you were happy for Dermott to stcik around, aqnd Matthews and Dipper...the list goes on. These things happen in footy. You don't condone it but you don't send them to the *****house either. Youre a deadsh1t

You can't seriously compare Dermott, Lethal et al. That was a completely different era of the game, and hard hits were commonplace.

And even if it was 20 years ago, I didn't say I condoned it.

Not sure about that mate. I think that he got in trouble when he played for Freo.

No defending the incident mace, but Jess isn`t a dirty player. He made a shocking mistake and should take his medicine. Hope he continues his good year in 2004 though...eventually.

It didn't look that bad from where I was (behind Jess), so I was a bit surprised to see the outcome. Normally the opposition will remonstrate with the offender but none of that happened which is highly unusual.

Obviously from other angles it was pretty bad. I'm watching the reply on Fox now so it will be interesting to see the outcome.

Sounds like it will cap off what was a pretty dirty night for Jess.

vandenberg lined him up about a second after it happened and missed, had there been a replay on the screen there would have been an all-in brawl.

Was a bad one Roofus - twice as bad as Fleming's from last week. Point of the elbow hit him flush, which was raised at right angles.

Oh everyone was doing the stuff that got Matthews deregistered. Must have missed those. And when Dipper splattered Stoneham's nose over his face, and smashed Kevin Walsh into the next millennium - commonplace all of them. In fact most players couldnt get thru a game without having to have reconstructive surgery of some kind.
And I didn't say you condoned it. Can i just assume your pleas to have them struck off the Hawthorn list fell on deaf ears.
Just don't know what point this moronic post was trying to prove except to p1ss off some already very angry North supporters.

Has to go for at least three weeks, I would of thought..
His reaction clearly suggested that he knew he'd stuffed up and I'm certain he'll plead guilty and cop the suspension on the chin...
AS for Hawthorn, Leigh Matthews did get Bruns, so anyone can make a dumb mistake that they later regret
(except umpires - they never regret the mistakes that Giesch says they didn't make!)

I wouldn't compare Dermott.

However, Leigh Matthews has a criminal record for what he did.

He was charged for assault by the men in blue and deeply regrets what he did that day. Ask him yourself (if you ever get the chance).

Delisting may go a bit far, yes, but if it were me I certainly wouldn't want someone who did that in the brown and gold.

I was too young to know football when the Lethal stuff was going on, but I have seen Bumps, Biffs and Brawlers and I can tell you they aren't just guys from one team on that footage.

And read the thread title - I'm not here to annoy people further, all I wanted to say was "acknowledge this and acknowledge it wasn't acceptable."

If you want a messageboard fight you ain't getting one.

he may of been lined up earlier but was only a few rows away from the incident and i dont know where in jess sinclairs head it came from but he will take his punishment. possibly 3- 6 weeks.

Fine. Wipe the records of Dermie (Head Stomper) and Lethal (behind the play viscious snipe from behind) from the Hawk archives (any chance?) and I'll start listening to you.

Until then F@rk off back to your own site.

PS "A different era" - you blokes will try anything!!!!

I do wish people would stop saying this. Matthews was charged and tried in a court of law, that part is true. He was deregistered as a VFL player for a few weeks.
However, they appealed against a criminal conviction and it was rescinded. As a result, Matthews has no criminal record assocated with his name.

Whatever.

I was ashamed to see what Jess did, and it was terrible to see Picioane in that state. Jess looked sick about it too, and pretty upset leaving at the end of the game.

That kind of act, even in frustration, is not like him at all, and I don't think he needs anyone from outside to tell him he's unacceptable. Frankly, neither do we.

No, he doesnt.

That is incorrect

No, your wrong.

What AdelaideHawk said is correct. All records were removed. There is no criminal record whatsoever to do with the Matthews/Bruns incident. Believe what you will but if you believe anything otherwise than that your mistaken.

Onto the Sinclair thing. The kids done wrong, will go, will come back and probably never do it again. Fair enough, I have no problems with it, it'll happen no doubt again somewhere down the track (a raised elbow) from a Hawk one day, or a Blue, a Roo, a etc etc etc.

Point being I'm not happy he decked one of mine but I'm not going to crucify him over it either.

Sorry for any 'intrusion' on the board.

What Sinclair did was uncalled for and he will get punished for it at the tribunal. However, don't hang him out to dry. It was one mistake from an otherwise fair player. He has always been known as a ball player and I'm sure he will continue to be one. He will get 3-4 weeks, Picione will probably play next week, and then this will be forgotten.
