All night during the game i was trying to work out who would make room for Egan in the Granny. Its a tough one.

Byrnes?

Not sure.
Byrnes played well tonight, but I guess he's our 22nd player and will be out if we have a better player coming in.
If Egan is 100%, then yes.
There also might be a Blake/King swap.

We really missed Egan tonight. Collingwood were quite awesome at attack tonight. Egan being there would have just been that one more steadier.

Are you serious?? In all honesty every time he had the ball or went near it he turned it over or stuffed it up. I think that gae got to him.

Varcoe would have to be a better option than Byrnes

I watched the game as a neutral and thought that Byrnes was very average and did pratically nothing. Blake is unco and should make way for King who is clearly a much better player than him.
I thought your best three were:
3 Joel Corey
2 G Ablett
1 Ottens

cats for the flag- ur my 2nd favourite team and ill be at the grand final backing you all the way.

We also have to try and find some room for T Hawkins, and not NAblett out as he, Hawk and Mooney play brilliantly when in the same team, tonight proved that we need another tall option forward to take stress off mooney and Nath. Btw I thought Nath played really well when he got the ball and heard a rumour that Bomber was unhappy with his game, can anyone confirm this?

Cheers TC:eek:

I doubt very much Egan will play next week. He was sitting right next to us and he was limping up and down the stairs :(

If this is true he would have hugh doubts (painkillers)

Was he not doing near sprints at training??????

Hard to bring Egan back in for a small. The pies were quick and so are the power so to give up a fast player would not be much of an advantage. Not dwelling on negatives but Byrnes turned it over way too much last night. Hawkins too raw at the moment but n.ablett didnt give much of a defensive challange last night, hoping for better next week. But King for Blake? Both give little around the grounds and King hardly has any spring so not great in the hitout department, would say the cats will tick with a winner team.

No.
We've well established that Byrnes is better than Varcoe for now.

no we have not! Byrnes is a stinker

Varcoe doesn't get a lot of it but he makes more goals happen than shannon with pressure and sneaky little handballs

when byrnes get it the whole team grinds to a halt

Go dig up some old Byrnes v Varcoe threads.
Varcoe plays footy like a game of cat (Varcoe) and mouse (opposition), almost like he lets his opponent get the ball just so he can chase him.

If this is true about Egan not playing then im shattered but still very confident. But what needs to happen is Shannon Byrnes getting dropped. He was pathetic last night and has no finishing skills at all as well as generally poor decision making. Varcoe whilst having good defensive pressure isnt fast enough and doesnt kick enough goals. What stood out last night is that whilst we had many more inside 50's than Collingwood we failed to take marks and kick goals, collingwoods defence was all over ablett and mooney. Bring in Hawkins who attracts another key defender which doesnt allow the opposition to have a defender jumping in front of Ablett and Moons, which leads to more marks being taken. Both Port and the Kangaroos dont have the key defenders to take down those three. If Hawk plays well tommorow he will be in the team and Shannon will make the plunge into the icy waters of the emergency list.
