Exactly, Freo still heavily rely on Fyfe, Mundy and Walters. their young players coming through do look good but don't think they have timed this rebuild well, those young players will be just be hitting their peaks as those three are finishing up and they still lack KPF.
Taberner shows promise. Give him 4-5 years and he'll hit his straps along with those young blokes entering their prime :thumbsu:

I am not really sure if you can "time" a rebuild.

They made some decision in 2017 and 2018 that have led them to where they are.

Drafting two mids (and a "safe" midfield in Brayshaw) in 2017 and trading for prodigal son Jesse Hogan (instead of going for one of the Max King) are the big sliding door moments that will be judged in retrospect.

They could have had Naughton/Allen, Cerra, King.

Instead they got Brayshaw, Cerra, Hogan.

I prefer Carlton's method.

Load up on key position players first and then mids, and then trade for need, but I don't think Carlton has built a list that will win them a premiership, so maybe the two are really one and the same.

Fremantle do have a good young list. But it took them longer to build it than they should have.

Will Fremantle be ahead of us on the
ladder in 2023? Probably but that won’t mean much if they don’t strike while Fyfe and Walters are on the list. They haven’t exactly got replacements for them.

Fremantle would have had 2 marquee generational players play for them in Pavlich and Fyfe and neither would have a flag to show for it.

That would be sad indeed.

I think you spelled hilarious wrong

Neroli Meadows podcast with Nic Nat and one with Woosha worth listening too.

A pretty good podcast in general.

A few key points would have been nice.

Did she mention AGAIN how shueys hammy injury against port a couple of years ago was given to him by footy gods for ducking to win the game the year before?

I'm surprised he had a mrs/girlfriend, guy is a complete prick.
Never met the bloke but he was one of my favourite players from that era. When we needed it, he always seemed to be there to swing the game in our favour. Very clutch.

Me and my mate called him Assman, cos he used to go out with my mate's missus' sister and was apparently a big fan of the ole prostate tickle.

Boy oh boy wowee, who's the Hunter, Adam or his lady friend?

..reputation just got knocked down a peg or two.

I don't agree with the sentiment, but I like Suma having a go.

I think we are a better team when we don't have an entire state blowing smoke up our ass.

Suma is only saying what everyone was thinking for long time. You can see it. Players are happy to simply role up, put on a decent show and hope that no one notices their reduced output.

There is a theory that a team after membership needs to inject new players deliberately to, basically, ensure the rest aren’t complacent.

Our team is essentially the same team as 3 years ago. Additions are limited to Allen with few others like Nelson who were there already. No one of note.

What we needed to do was to remove a player to make a statement. Eg redden. Someone that raises an eyebrow. We are a worse team than 3 years ago.

"No one of note"
Really?

Lol. Receptionist at my work years ago used to hang in similar circles. Said he was only ever interested in anal - in between the drug binge sessions.

A little update from ol' crazy eyes.

It sounds like he found being in WA a tad isolating. Glad he is back closer to his family.

Nice to see him saying nice things about both Nic and West Coast.

He’s a pretty good fella. Liked him when he was here even if it didn’t quite work out.

It was a good move for him and I wish him all the best at Sydney

Just a good bloke Tom, good to hear he and the family are happy.

Can see why its hard for players with family's to uproot and stay here.

Mitchel would have stayed a few more years but his wife struggled here but then Petrie and his family on the other hand love it here and no doubt stay here for a fair while.

Having lived in quite a few of Australia's cities you tend to either love them or hate them. Perth is chilled, has a good ocean life, great for families as well as what are now really well developed foodie experience as well as some of the best breweries and pubs in the country.

Sydney is a gorgeous city but **** me if you're not a multi millionaire it's a shithole place to live. If you can't afford to live inner city then it's just no good.

Melbourne has a lot going for it if you can discount 2 things and these are west aussie things that most others wouldn't be bothered by.
1. It's filled with ****ing victorians who think everything they have is better than anything anywhere else in the world. Their sport is better, their food is better, their nightlife if better, their coffee is better.
2. I ****ing hate the weather and how quickly it can change. For someone with a lot of past injuries it causes me a fair bit of pain.

Adelaide is basically perth in 1990 but with 2020 lvls of drugs.

Darwin when I lived there was a nightmare. Not just the humidity but lot of Military presence as well. Lots of people coming and going.

Haven't lived in brisbane or canberra but could quite happily retire on the sunshine coast.

Agree with your experience. I enjoy Sydney but hey. Adelaide is where they release people back into society. Perth becomes a bit quiet. Covid would not have helped Tom and his family feel isolated. Well not covid but dumb closures.

TBH I dont like Melbourne as a city because it just feels so scungy and dirty whenever im there. Anything thats not a green space always seems to be covered in a perpetual layer of dirt, muck and general refuse.

Always feel like I need a shower after getting back into the hotel room. Im sure the 'burbs are probably fine but the CBD and surrounds? Blergh. Dont touch anything, kids!
