Interstate Members

I wonder if the club knows how many interstate members make the trip to Melbourne to see the Blues play during the season.

Personally I get across at least once if not 2 or 3 times depending on work trips and I am sure there are plenty of others that make the trip at least once a season.

I always hop on the number 19 tram up Royal Parade to hopefully catch a training session or even to spend my hard earned in the club shop (the wife doesn't understand why a 33yo needs a new jumper or training singlet every year).

What about if the club got negotiated a deal with Virgin or Qantas and a couple of hotels in the city that would offer decent discounts on flights and accommodation for Carlton members.
The club could arrange tours on a Friday morning at Princes Park which could include a talk from a former player and even arrange access to a pre or post game function. This would all be free as part of your interstate membership.

The club could approach the relevant interstate supporter groups to help promote the idea.

Thoughts?
rumour has it the club does get this and is trying to organize with an airline/hotel/AFL etc for a game this year where interstate members get a package of flights/accom/game tickets/functions etc that has not happened before. Would be great if they get it up and going. EG v Rich II. We shall see if they can organize a root....

With regards to discount accommodation, I work for the Accor group and we have access to 'family and friends' rates. I'd be more than happy to see if I can get a deal for any Carlton members planning on coming to Melbs throughout the year! The discount rates aren't always available, depending on occupancy etc, but when they are available they can be pretty good deals.

That is hilarious...

yup. I'm picturing someone reading this thread....

"hmmmm there seems to be growing unrest within our interstate members, what can we do, what, can, we do.....hmmm.....JUDDY GROWTH CHART!"

Genius

If I get back in April/May for a couple of weeks... I am thinking of doing the weagles match and then maybe heading over to Melbourne for a game there as well... would be a good trip for me :D

Let me know if anyone is looking at accommodation and I can try and get a good rate for you. We have hotels ranging from 3 star to Luxury-so if you do want me to check it out, let me know what dates, how many rooms and what your budget is.

How did other WA folk go getting tickets for the Eagles game in rd 4.

I picked up a couple of tickets but it was a bit of a nightmare getting through to the club. Firstly the membership department thought it would be a good idea making tickets available from 6am Perth time which is ridiculous. I called at 6.01am and l was put on hold for 14mins before the call was cut off.

My wife was calling from her mobile and got through and was on hold for 12 mins before she was cut off. It then took another 5 or so minutes to get through to the club and told I was number 21 in the queue. Finally got through to speak to someone and got my tickets.

I asked the guy why I was cut off twice between 6am and 6.30 and he told me they had not turned the phone system on correctly.

The other thing I found amusing was the membership ad they played over and over again while you are hold and they talk about getting access to videos and photos of the clubs upcoming pre season trip to Arizona which was only 6 months ago.

wondering if any fellow interstaters have ordered a new Guernsey with a number printed yet this year?

curious to know how long it took for you to get it
I would suggest a reg jumper taken to a local AFL store maybe

finally got the foxtel bloke to install everything (just in time for 7mate to start showing the games live:mad: ), first viewing of a blues game in the south-west, not a great start - but just glad to be spending retirement cheering the boys on

Yeh incentives for interstate members would keep them in the mix and kick off early season merch sales. Win for all

As an interstate member I am surprised not more is done by the supporter groups currently set up.

The club should be using the various supporter groups to help value add for interstate members.

Last I heard I am pretty sure there are about 2500 paying members here in WA, and WA is the second largest state for Blues memberships (behind Victoria...).

So you would think combining all the other states interstate members there must be at least 5-7k members. That's about 10-15% of current membership numbers.

Thats is a fair number for WA Damo - I would be curious to see the breakdown of memberships based off each state.
