Fek how awesome would that have been for those local blokes.

Too right.

Enough to make me want to live in Greater Western Sydney (never thought I'd be saying that:eek: :D) on the off chance that I'd have been picked for the match.

Glad to hear Duncan also went well, and ditto Varcoe. Does anyone think his role in the midfield seem a sign of things to come in 2010 or will he still be forward?

I think it's a natural progression, as the game calls for as much versatility as possible. The more good players you can rotate through the midfield (who can make an impact) the stronger your team is. Also if a few of those players can kick a goal or two as a small forward it's yet another strength.

I wouldn't predict that Varcoe will be a starting midfielder, you'd think he's still got a few to catch. But the more effect he can have when he is on the ball all the better.

Hi All

Just a question re sydney players that played in the intra club who & how did they go? Did scholo players have a kick?

Asked this on sydney football board but as they weren't 3rd & 4th division players who got a run no one seems to have paid attention.

Any feedback appreciated

more informed posters maybe able to help... because all i know is they were from the local team - the goannas

on the addy this morning is this article:

The AFL sent its premier team to its newest frontier as part of the community camp program last week and was response was, well, underwhelming.

Maybe if they advertised the game on the Cats site, or even the AFL site they would have got a better turn out.

If it wasnt for this board i would have had no idea it was on in the first place and wouldnt have bothered trying to find out where it was.

Even then it took another poster to find out what time the actual game was on.

How can they have a go at the sydney media when they cant even get it right in their own backyard.

TBH I don't think the club really cares if anyone turns up to an intraclub match - it's purely for trialling players and gameplans - otherwise they'd sell tickets.

Yeah I even emailed the club asking for the time of the game over a week before and got nothing, but maybe no one ever gets a response from the emails.

The players weren't just from the Goanna's, they were from a number of clubs, mostly premier division clubs... link below. No idea how any went though.
