Is Cousins finding form or is it just an illusion?

We could probably nurse him through another season, if only for his onfield leadership, which cannot be underestimated. The guy still has an aura about him, much more so than Akermanis IMHO.
Give him another year.

What he adds to your side, on and off the field, in both leadership and example, is invaluable for your young kids coming through.

Writing him off reminds of people who wrote of Glenn McGrath before he dominated his last World Cup. Was he a bit slower all round? Yep. Had he lost a few yards of pace? Definitely.

Was he still fit, and one of the most skilled and intelligent bowlers in the game?

Hell yes.

Watched us unable to lay a hand on Cuz at the G. Actually used his positioning, delay before handballing to position and ability to set up others players, making them look good as examples to my little bloke.

Then he burned in Brisbane! Seeing his emotions after the match was both interesting and illuminating. Stop whingeing, you guys have got an absolute ripper, a bit older, a lot wiser, but still a ripper.

Treat class and application with the respect it deserves and be rewarded.

Hope he's teaching them all he knows because next year would be one too long.
He has shown the past 5-6 weeks he is good enough still to play at this level. With a limited preseason as well. So why would 1 more year be one to long. He should get another contract on his ability and his performances and the willing to help our kids.

Benny the father of the Richmond kids ;)

Have to disagree. This guy is loving the game and playing well, he's had a couple of interrupted pre-seasons and as the season has gone along has got better. Usually when you're over it, you get worse as the year goes on.

We don't have many mature players left and I the team needs a player like him.

If his body breaks down again this season, lets be reminded there is still 10 games to go then we cannot possibly renew his contract another season. (Although I'd ask him to because an assistant coach of some kind).

If in the next 10 weeks he plays 8 games at or near the level he currently is playing then we have to absolutely give him another year.

Hardwick said it himself, he is practically another coach for us out on the ground which money cant buy.

Have to agree with this, if he can finish of the season strongly then give him another year, if he coasts or struggles with injury then sign him up as a development coach.

If it was decided that he couldn't handle another year at AFL level I wonder if we could get him to play a year at VFL level. Now I know some will read this and think its stupid, but think about it, Cousins could still work with the kids coming through, showing them what it takes to prepare for games and how hard you need to work once on the field if you want to play at AFL level.

This is the thing i love most about cuz. He's ability to hold onto the ball, draw a player and dish out the handball to a teammate before taking the hit. Releases a teammate and away we go. Pure class and willingness to take a big hit in order to break the lines!
