I think he is.

Very soft isnt'n he, and doesnt have much of a clue.

Im a bit worried he will be elevated at the end of the year at the expense of davies or maybe even o'brien.

Maybe another year on the rookie list.

What does everyone else think.

nah he needs to do a few preseasons to build up his body but he is alright tapping the ball. I saw him for willy against box hill and then for the pies against sdyney and port and he was pretty good i thought. It is pretty crap because he is coming up against ruckman who have hade 5,6 preseasons and he is getting outbodied too easily. Give him time at least he isn't injury prone. All our ruckman are falling over.

You don't have much idea how the rookie list works, do you?

You only get two years on a rookie list, and Flaps has had his, we either promote him to the senior list, or de-list him and try to pick him up again.

If we want to promote Davies or O'Brien, which is unnecessary anyway considering that they have another year on the rookie list we can use, it's still allowed as long as we clear the space on our list.

yeah vinnie vegas is right, we either promote him or try our luck re-rookieing him

i would promote him, he has shown some good signs, and for someone who a couple of years ago was playing basketball, he is coming along beautifully, even considering he lost most of last season with injury

with the question mark still hanging over Guy Richards this season, i see no reason why he wont play the next 8 games and just try and develop his ruck skills a bit more and perservere with him

will have a huge task this week on Keating, hopefully he can go to school like he no doubt did last wekk on Lade and Primus

Well pardon me, Oh Great One.

Sorry my lifetime of knowledge does not take in afl rookie lists Oh Intelligent One.

If You are correct and no doubt you are Your Highness lets get rid off the dud now shall we.

Also why is it unnecassary to promote davies or obrien Oh Wise One, if they can play and they are ready, you put them on the senior list dont you, irrespective of whether they have another year or not which i was alluding to in my post.

They also look better than Fanning, Would you agree Your Excellencey.

LoL Stan its ok champ

Davies is a chance of getting promoted straight away as well at seasons end....O'Brien will be kept as a rookie as a work-in-progress, he wont play senior footy for the Pies this year, and this seaosn is all about him refining his game under Gotchy down at Willy

hopefully they hold onto Heritier though

I don't reckon he shows much. He can't take a mark, his disposal is questionable, he looks lost out on the ground and his ruck work is nothing to write home about. I'd much rather have Guy Richards in the ruck if he could ever go 3 weeks in a row without getting injured, and C2 releiving him. I think Fraser should be a forward who has brief stints in the ruck, playing like Goodes did in his brownlow year. I hold higher hopes for C2 as a ruckman than Fanning, but even then there are question marks.

yes he has a lot of development in him, but im prepared to take the ride and see where it goes

he is a very raw footballer, there is plenty of development there

and yes, it would be nice if we could actually see Stretch out on the park some time this season

got to remember he played basketball for ages to his not use to footy just yet i think he went down to willy last year, so he hasnt had much ex in footy yet.

give him time develop him we either need a ruckman next year some how or bring one up like richards or fanning that we have spent time in coz fraser is no ruckman.

Considering Richards has been injured all year, half of last yr, and most of his previous seasons, and fraser has been injured all year this year, as well as a few injuries last year, that leaves us with only 2 other ruckmen. Fanning and Cloke. You would have to be stupid to think we should delist Fanning, and make our already thin ruck stocks thinner.

I have my doubts that Richards will be on the list next year. I know I'm losing patience.... Fanning Looks like he's developing ok... but heck i know he's having a better season than richards..... (he's playing!).

What's the deal with calling a kid who's got less than ten games of football (and not AFL football, ANY football) experience a dud? Heard about giving people time to develop?
It's very unfortunate that we lost Rogan and Stretch at the one time, meaning we have had to play Flaps in the seniors. I'm sure MM would have honestly not wanted to play him this season, and let him learn the game at Willy for at least a season. If that was the case, you wouldn't be saying this because you wouldn't be seeing him on the main stage. Yes, he cr@pped himself when alone in the third quarter and dropped that sitter, but you get out there with practically zero experience and try to play. Nardz summed it up best:

but heck i know he's having a better season than richards..... (he's playing!).

And that's the thing, as long as he stays injury free, we will keep him because Stretch can't seem to get injury free.

Richards is the dud, not Fanning.

Fanning is a kid doing a mans job and hes doing it very very well and shows tons of potential.

A couple of preseasons will do young Fanning the world of good. How can you judge him when his only played a handful of games?

Fanning has played 10 games and he is a dud? Good god, give him a break, come back when he has played 50 games and bitch and moan about him.

He will get promoted to the senior list in October.
End of story really

Very true, Mick reckons he is going to be a superstar, still against port he only had 10 hit outs but how many of the clearances went to lockyer, o'bree, lica, bucks etc.

10? Try 6, which just points out how stupid this idea is.

Then again, Cameron Cloke's still only played 18 games and people think it's fair to call him a dud.
I forgot to add 'about' oh well, it's still too early to judge him, in my opinion he has been improving, his match agaisnt Port wasn't too bad.

Right now, he is the only ruckman we have that is fit, unless we throw Walker in the ruck, I am suer when he gets older he will be a much betetr ruckman.

I reckon he has something and people can't deny his improvement has gone up exponentialy since he started. Many people were saying give Swan the boot this time last year, I haven't heard from them for a while.
