What are some other historic examples of good teams where one player carries an otherwise poor team, whether for one match or an extended period of time?

difficult to say, being the first game he has missed... sydney did the same thing to us last time we played them, and dangerfield was in the side.

i think its more accurate to say: playing sydney or collingwood = no geelong.

Sydney are the best team in the competition, this had nothing to do with Dangerfield.

Historically this has been the result when these sides have met of late, with or without Dangerfield.

The sample size is also far too small, to be able to make a conclusion like that after just one game is far too reactive.
