To be fair Somalia is almost entirely the one ethnic group, language and religion. Theoretically it should have succeeded. It's just that each clan of Somalis seem to hate each other more than they hate the other ethnic groups they share a country with in Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti.

Basing political criteria on ethnicity is completely reactionary.
because the criteria of race, ethnicity, clan etc is how the capitalist class divides the working class and prevents a united struggle against the depredations of capitalism.

To think that a nation state such as Somalia could succeed, given its horrific levels of poverty, in a world economy dominated by massive banks and hedge funds of international capital, is just an absurdity.

The entire nation state system is bankrupt and obsolete. Only its abolition will prevent a third world war.
