Its Time For Trigg To Resign.

Which the club has also done in a statement on the website. At least they didn't completely ignore it I guess?
What a crappy statement too.

Club statement
afc.com.au

To our dedicated and passionate members and supporters, the Club feels compelled to respond to sweeping, negative and unsubstantiated comments levelled in a newspaper opinion piece today.

As always, our board, staff, coaches, players, and members are united and committed to the cause. The timing of these inaccuracies is bizarre, given we are in the hunt for a finals berth and playing in front of a sold out stadium tonight.

The Club is well run and profitable, and this year boasts the second highest average home attendances in the competition, record membership and every corporate facility is sold out. The piece is clearly uninformed, so feel free to ignore it!
Nothing to see here! Everything is fine. Stay calm and remain indoors.

I can't believe the Adelaide Board believes it is well run! what a pointless thing to say.

Pissweak statement but it has them bothered.

His article does holds plenty of good points about the disillusionment of fans over the administration of the club but the idiot fails to recognise that our on field performances are a direct result of our administrations handling over tippettgate. Pushovers, I agree with that, however I don't get what he is saying about the board being divided. Every board in history is divided. That's what makes them a board. Boards argue and express different ideas. What are they divided about? is it a particular serious issue or are they divided about pre match entertainment? If its a serious issue, what the issue? he doesn't say nor suggest anything.

The power brokers line falling out of love with Sando over his forward line is a stretch at best. Sando wasn't around when Gunston left, Tippettgate was out of his control. Statistics also don't back his argument. If our 2011 forward line was awesome then why didn't we play finals until after Gunston left!

I just don't get the pro Mark Haysman love fest going on at the end of the article. This guy was laughed out of SA football for his gutless approach to the power, now because a couple of rumours from Port Adelaide are giving him credit for this resurrection (which is a complete and utter joke because he resigned mid season 2011 and this resurrection that this guy created decided only to take place a full 18 months later, please!!!). So either Mark Haysman did it or KT and Kochie, which is it? I am going the latter!

The club however is far from a basket case, to compare us to Port Adelaide is just sensationalism to sell a newspaper or please a certain head journalist, take your pick!

Agree. Some of it is correct but the sensationalist rubbish mixed in will ensure the article is ignored. The Haysman bandwagon is very weird.

All the boys club think the club is well run. Very low bar they set.

Are you wanting the crows to be more aggressive in their response or are you wanting them to answer accusations levelled in the piece?
If all you're going to put out is that sort of response then it's better not to say anything at all IMO.

It was probably forced on the club due to a high number of complaints this morning. For what its worth a majority of the article was complete nonsense and had a clear agenda. That journalist has lost any credit he thought he once had.

I presume the club felt compelled to answer that article, when it rarely does such a thing, because it knows that the article strikes a chord with how many supporters are feeling.

Perhaps more relevant does the response reflect a fear that the tipping point has been reached? Could the agitators start to outnumber the mindless sheep for the first time?

I don't think it would matter to the AFC now with Trigg certain to leave.

To whichever AFC employee who is scouring these forums on behalf of the club - I am a member - our family has 8 11 game ticketed memberships including 3 gold memberships and myself and my family are in complete agreeance with that article. You can dismiss it as not being representative of your supporter base and you can put out weak statements on the club website, but you will not alter the increasingly growing discontent amongst your supporter base with regards to how the club is being run both on and off the field.

Just out of curiosity how would you know whether there were complaints to the club?

And which bits were nonsense, based on...?

Hard to figure out your game, one minute you feign complete ignorance of our finances next you're talking about how misinformed a controversial newspaper article is?

Something doesnt smell right here

The biggest issue I have with that club reply is the idea that any criticism becomes invalid in the context of us winning games and having large crowd attendances.

Exactly. Its as if the answer to a different question invalidates the original question.

We say we're profitable, but our last results were a 1.6m loss (that bloke sure disappears quick) and according to Caro we're forecasting a profit of 100k at this stage. Despite record attendence membership & sponsorship.

Doesn't sound like we've turned the corner just yet

Yep. You may heard that we're shit, but as far as we are concerned, we're not. They certainly put that to bed.

I can get back to making apricot slice in peace now with news like that.

It's just so much easier when you let others do your thinking for you.

Especially fair and reputable sources like our board.

That reminds me, i better knit Triggy a new jumper as a thank you for relieving my worries this past day or so.

I posted this in the game day thread but for posterity:

Just wanted you all to know: made a big banner that said, "Sack Trigg & Chapman", hung it off the Sir Edwin Smith stand. It wasn't even out for 5 minutes before security told me I couldn't do it. I countered with as per the SMA charter that it was not defamatory etc. but he said because it had a name, I could take it down or be evicted and if I waved it during the match I would be evicted.

We truly are the Adelaide Football Corporation. ******* sick of it.

What did you expect? There are rules at every ground saying you cannot hang banners over signage. Or anything controversial. It's nothing to do with the AFC. It's the ground management. (Though I'm sure AFC wouldn't have been pleased).

Thank you Ms Sycophant, but it wasn't over signage and it followed the rules in the SMA code of conduct so take your Trigg love elsewhere

C'mon. Don't be an idiot. Of course they were going to ask you to take that down. Attacking individuals in that way is never going to get the approval of ground security.
