Jack Antony is Corey MacKernan's cousin....who knew?

Who's Corey Mc Kernan? - Jack Anthony's cousin.

JA has character - the way he took that tongue-lashing from MM last night and just got on with it. He's a real professional as well as a major talent.

McKernan was a north ruckman who won the brownlow whilst suspended so he was ineligible, also played in their premierships i believe.

then went off to carlton for a couple of good seasons then some shit ones under pagan and retired as a very talented but somewhat wasted player. His little brother Shaun was drafted this year to port i think

We need someone with a bit of mongrel and JA fills those boots. Good on him because it has probably been a while since we have had someone.

Wasn't sold on this kid PS, but I am now. He is a FF too not so much a third tall.

Still a long way to go, but when he puts on a bit of size, a bit more strength, and if he can get a bit bigger in the hips he will be in the mold of Lloyd and Fev (not saying he will be as good as either has been) but he will be a good focal point deep for us. Might take another year or 2. When he learns to command the pill and his team mates grow confidence in him, and with a more direct game plan.

Should kick 60 odd this year if he keep going this way. Would be a huge return.

Although I've been a big JA fan for a considerable time now, I must say I am an even bigger fan now since backing the Pies to win and having Jack take some marks inside 50. His kicking for goal is so fantastic you can really rest easy if the ball's in his hands.

In fact, with Jack, MacAffer and Medhurst in the forward 50, we have some tremendously accurate kicks for goal. It's great for making the most of our forward 50 entries.

Not just that - McKernan would have tied with Voss and Hird in 1996 for the Brownlow, but was ruled ineligible because he had been reported for time wasting, which was soon after ruled not to make a player ineligible for the Brownlow. However, as it was the rules at the time, he misses out.

He also would have won the Rising Star award in 1994, but was ineligible due to a dubious striking report.

He did, however, take home an AFLPA MVP award and an AA selection in 1996, Premierships in 1996 and 1999, as well as Carlton's B&F in 2002.

Still, he probably goes down as one of the games unluckiest players.

I know what you mean by unlucky but he won 2 premierships, i'm sure bucks would trade everything he has for one of those. Anyway, i think Jack is definately cemented in our forward line now.

Don't expect McAffer to be in there much longer, as soon as Didak is fit, he's out - done nothing, and looks lost

We knew. Corey MacKernan went to my daughters school Gladstone Park High. We were told some time back that Jack Anthony was MacKernans cousin.

While Medhurst is questionable with his ankle injury I'd expect MacAffer to stay in there anyway.

It's Gladstone Park Secondary College and yes, I went there as well (couple of year levels above his younger brother, Shaun).

Nathan Thompson told a story about JA on Triple M today.

JA didn't get invited to Paul Licuria's wedding so on his wedding day, Jack walked into the church where he was getting married, wearing his full Collingwood training gear, walked up to Licuria who I think may have been walking up the aisle (can't remember) gave him a high 5, and wished him the best of luck, and walked back out.

"If you interrupt Paul Licuria's wedding one more time you'll never play for Collingwood again!"

La Caf shows good poise. A Medhurstish type of forward: really composed and handy in my view. A few weeks could be good for him.

Yeah, I've liked him. Keeps the pressure on too.
