Smart, smart young footballer. :thumbsu:

Moves to the right areas, great hands, has deceptive pace and is a talker/introvert on the field. Kicking could be a bit plumper though.

Jack was the one I was most excited about after a repeated viewing of the Dockers game.( This morning's Fotxel replay in which six minutes was edited out in the middle of the 3rd term :thumbsd:)

caught out many times having to kick with the left peg. did ok considering. ;)

Interesting i think he is more suited away from the goal atm in his career at AFL level where as Hughes is suited to FF more than up the ground so very interesting to see if the chop and change the 2 according to game plans.

been calling for this kid to come in for a while now he is the future might as well play him for the rest of the year now and get some valuable game time

i think its plain as day that we need to fast track the development of these young fowards in jack, cleve, morton.
the fact that richo has proved he is just as if not more damaging up the ground just reinforces what we already know.
it may not always work to plan but we must persist & get 50+ games into these boys.

Think you mean extrovert. Deceptive pace? He ain't quick or anywhere near it. He is a smart player though. A footballer first, athlete second.

rising star chance?? good game! maybe in a few weeks
Not this week, that will go to Luenberger, Jack will have a good chance and plenty of opportunaties throughout the year though.

Very interesting player - thinks that split-second ahead of everyone else on the field. Whether he can translate that into something special remains to be seen.

He seems to have the basics fairly well covered - his skill set is pretty good. And that is what he really needs to concentrate on. The 'specials' will just be icing on the cake. I am looking forward to watching him develop over the next few years.

Some of the things he did last year at Coburg were very impressive.

I dont think he is ever going to be the player that takes the big pack marks. I think he just lacks a couple of cm's and the big leap.

However, as a lead up half forward that roams up as far as the wing, he could be a great player.

What are peoples thoughts on whether Jack and Cleve can be played in the same side and which positions they would both play?

I think people talk way to much about peoples size like he is only 189 not 192 does 3 cm really make any difference, he might have long arms and short legs or visa versa. Or may not have any leap or is an athlete not a footy player.

Footy smarts will win the day every time. Look at Jake King he is a dwarf but is competitive in nearly any contest even if he is out marked he is in close to them with body work and when the ball hits the ground he clears it like no one else.

Suggest you watch him a little closer HB. A great leap and good hands. As he gets older and stronger I am confident he will do at AFL what he has been doing in the VFL for the past 2-3 years now. Easy to forget he is just 19yo. Still a ways to go yet.

Haven't seen a replay yet so don't know if this showed up, but doubt it.

First quater I think, lining up for the bounce after a goal (can't remember who's) and Freo had managed to engineer a spare man in defense and Jack was at half forward directing traffic and letting the others know what was going on and to some good effect from memory.

And I liked the rest of his game too - he looks like he is still finding his way a bit but when he's found it he is going to be influential on the field - it shows already.

Key is to just keep playing him now. Dont go throwing him back into the 2's then back into the 1's etc. The quicker the RFC gets games into him and Hughes the better off this team will be progressing fwd. At least Wallace has seen the light and admitted its time to see what life after RIcho will be like. Schulz, Thursfield and Moore are looking good as tall backs - i like McGuane also he has mongrel - but his skills arent AFL standard yet.

If Wallace is serious he will have a fwd line of:

Morton Hughes Reiwoldt

Brown/White Polak Edwards/Connors

- for the rest of the year. Have Edwards, Connors, Cotchin etc all rotating through. With Browny, Tambling and Deledio rotating into the midfield.

- Morton is a better prospect than Pettifer. He is quicker and 5yrs younger.

- Matt White is another who should be played up there to chase and tackle.

- Polak is a fwd. Full stop.

...thats the future RFC.

I liked his game, purely because he was able to adapt himself to a foreign situation. Basically played on a flank at starvation corner with most of the traffic being directed through Brown. When he was involved, he was busy and showed good smarts to position himself properly. All footballers have deficiences. People say jack may be slow, but I think he has the streets smarts to push himself beyond his deficiences, in a similar way that Adam Pattison is pushing through his.

we have to play him more often because when rico is gone he will be the man that will take his place at FF i hope he plays alot more often because he is one of my fav players

His footy skills aside Jack is a genuine team lifting character. Everytime a goal was kicked he'd pissbolt over and get involved and shout encouragement. That's a massive quality imo, the difference between kicking a goal and ambling back into position and kicking a goal and having a mate cheer and lift you into the air can give that player a huge boost. Jack should be a regular from now on.

He worked hard didn't he! I like the play where he recieved the ball on the backflank, kicked it to Pattison or someone and then sprinted 100 metres and recieved the pill again! Smart Footballer, maybe not big enough for a KP role though at AFL level.
