Jack Riewoldt?

currently he is out of form, but dropping him to the twos isnt going to do him any good, Jack is a player who when he gets the ball he grows on confidence

Keep him in there, no good dropping

Needs a huge preseason to build his motor and upper body strength. Season is long and is beginning to tell on some of the kids.

but is always involved in big clutch plays I've noticed, may not get many touches but he impacts on the game nearly everytime he doe get it.

Took a big strong mark under pressure then passed it to richo he got a 50 and kicked the sealer.

I've been watching jack closely the past month, don't under estimate the impact he has on our side, already a very important ingredient :thumbsu:

I agree always bobs up in the big preasure contests

big clutch plays

You've been listening to too much football coverage haven't you Tony? :D Don't start talking like those clowns !! :p

I agree with everything else you said in your post. When JR took that grab in the last I had just been thinking to myself he'd had a quiet one, but again he pops up and does something important at just the right time ;)

Yeah I think Jack is being manned up by the 1st or 2nd best tall back every week depending where Richo is.

Pretty tough for a 19 year old. But he works hard and is effective with the few touches he gets each week.

No point sending him back to VFL he has already shown is below him at this stage of the season. Seems to give us good structure and the experience of so many games should pay dividends. :thumbsu:

I'm happy with his improvement this year. :thumbsu:

I think Scarlett spent a good deal of time on Jack the previous week didn't he?

IMO we are playing one marking forward short at the moment.
With Polly's accident and subsequent problems for Cleve, it's only when Richo goes forward that Jack gets any relief.

Hughes may not be the longer term messiah but we need that alternative marking target to ease the burden on "cousin of Nick".

Whats the go there?

he is struggling massively.

is he in our best 22 at the mo?

On current form no but there is no way know you would drop him. He needs these games under his belt. As mentioned he took some important grabs when needed.

I wonder if he has qualified for finals for Coburg ?

I wonder if he has qualified for finals for Coburg ?

I was reading about it on OER the other day and there was a tally but I cant find it now. But from my memory. . . .

Jack has only played 3 or 4 games for Coburg this year and he needs 7 so he doesn't and wont qualify.

I think the only Richmond player close to the mark of qualifying is Edwards who needs one more Coburg game to play finals.

He'd be missed if he WAS dropped. This experience I feel will pay off long term for Jack. It's the sort of experience you cant get in the 2's. :thumbsu:

Took a massive pack mark on the wing in the last quater right when the game was in the balance.

He also takes a big defender. We can't go into a game without any tall fowards now that Richo's on the wing, Schulz (who was very good yesterday) floating in a similar role and Hughes at Coburg.

I am with you. I am loving this kid and he has grown in leaps and bounds along with White and Moore. Two more rounds and they earn a nice rest, then chuck them in the gym. Jack and the other kids are the bright future of the yellow and black. They have all contributed massively to our results this year.

Jack does a lot of stuff in the background to create space for Morton, Richo etc etc. Like someone said we'd miss him if he wasn't there.
He gains a lot of confidence from getting the footy and yes he is in a form slump. But we have freo and Melbourne coming up and that most probably will see him getting more of the footy and could shake him out of his form and confidence slump.
He's got great hands and also seems to take the no1 backman off our hands and keeps them busy even if he doesn't touch it.
Gonna need to hit the gym and he will go far next year.

no point playing him in the 2's.. every time he gets dropped down there he kicks a bag and comes back within a couple of weeks

get some games under his belt i say

Even if he's not getting a ton of it or kicking regular bags its plain to see he's going to be a BIG part of our future going forward - Needs to stay for the added experience. His downfalls are strength and fitness which he's not going to get any more of in the VFL at this stage. He just goes back and dominates.

He had his one great game against an average west coast side... he is one of those playrs who will only have the same amounts of kicks as goals..... if riewoldt doesn't do much against the dockers i'd be calling for cleave hughs to get another go. When richo finshes i wreckon hughs would be a better foward the riewoldt anyday.... and hughs (if he were playing) wouldn't of been so arragant and thought he could kick 55metres after the siren when the pass was on offer against the saints.

In English please.

LOL @ Jack trying to pick Richo up after that final goal! Must have got him a good 1cm off the ground.

Maybe we could recruit Dew and all preseason Jack could bench him 100 times a day.
