How would this work?
I thought the cats trading powers were hobbled by the AFL rules stating that they actually have to go to the draft at some point..

Geelong are allowed to trade this years first round draft pick. Rules regarding trading of future first round picks doesn’t come into play until next year.

I don’t think Geelong need Jack Steven as they have enough inside midfielders. What they should be targeting is a ruckman and a small forward.

Dont Geelong have to use their allocated first and second rounders this year as they have traded previous first rounders for the like of Henderson and Touhy?

It has nothing to do with R2 where does that come from?.. The rule is you must use 2 R1 picks in the last 4 years.. and starts being gauged at the end of this years draft.. There is in draft trading this year.. we could gain a pick in draft.. so the assessment must happen post draft.

So ..at the end of this years draft the afl will do an Audit of the last 4 years.. and any club who has failed to use 2 picks in 4 years.. will have to use their R1 picks going forward till they have achieved 2 picks in 4 years.

Having said that , I hope we have nothing to do with trading our R1... we need more not less early R1 picks

Chill mate! I was just asking the question, not having a pot shot. If I was having a pot sot I would have put some weight behind it

Not meant to be anything other than informative...not having a go at you. There is no R2 requirement.

I would say we would be nuts to trade our R1 for a 29 year old player.. if we do that ..then you will be telling me to Chill allright

McClure might be the most hit and miss journalist in history

His Neale revelation was a hit, this is a huge miss

Geelong have already denied it when they haven’t denied Dahlhaus so that would suggest to me that it isn’t the case.
1 in contracted and 1 has walked. They have to be treated differently.

After the hoo har when they visted Boak I think they would do things differently.

Was pretty spot on about McGovern (stuck with it after manager and Crows rubbished it as much as possible) as well as the Adelaide camp fiasco (constant denial) too though...

Having said that, Steven to Geelong doesn't seem to make sense for any of the parties involved.

Maybe but Scott has said in conferences he doesn’t mind teams openly talking to players about trade prospects. I just imagine if they were that interested they just wouldn’t have flat out denied it.

Maybe you are right.
