Hard to say at this stage, been impressed with Watts this year at times, been impressed of what ive seen of butcher as well, both very promising players who we wont see the best of for a while.

Depends what you are looking for in a forward.

Watts has very good skills/decision making and is quite versatile, he probably won't end up a big power forward but quite possibly a Riewoldt type is more suited to him.

Butcher looks like he'll be a giant gorilla in the forward 50 that will crash packs, take contested marks and kill people in the process.

IMO it would come down to the game style of the team.

I think that Butcher would be more of a Riewoldt type with his courage and contested work. Jack Watts seems more of a lead up player like a lance franklin. Not saying either of them are anywhere near that level im just comparing the potential

LOVE the way Butcher chases! Couple almost/run downs of much smaller opponents. His second and third efforts are excellent!

Sooner he puts pen to paper for us the better!

If you doubt Butchers athletic ability. watch some footage of his leap and chase downs. For a man his size and weight its very impressive.

Ps Tredrea was a champion! If he winds up as good or nearly as good as Tredrea we will be stoked!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it will be interesting to see how this pans out, i don't want to overrate the kid but i think that butcher with a bit of size could be a unstoppable force in the mould of a riewoldt or brown. People can say his kicking is horrible but the fact is he has kicked 11.1 with a disposal efficiency of over 80 percent. Not bad disposal on paper

Butcher's kicking looks so bad I find it hard to believe he can ever fix it. Maybe he will be like Richo though and drag in so many marks he'll have 10 shots on goal for 4.4 and 2 OOTF.
Watts looks a more rounded prospect to me.

Id he turns out like Richo though, I doubt the Power fans will complain. Yes his kicking was flawed, but has the most goals at the MCG, and kicked 800 himself, not to mention being second on the all time marks ladder, only behind Stewart Loewe. If Butcher can get 600+ career goals, I think the Power fans will be happy

Butcher is a shit kick. I don't care that he's kicked straight so far. Most of the shots have been from 25 out, and admittedly that's because he's a smart player who knows where best to get the footy. But everyone thought Hawkins was a good kick in his first half dozen games. Butcher has a shit technique, and at this point I'm far from convinced.

I'm going Watts in this one. Anyone who picks Butcher off such a tiny sample of games is, I'm sorry to say, a bit of a dick.

hmmm in the interests of fairness I withdraw my comments about him only kicking them from 25. Some of those long goals were very good.

I hope he keeps slotting them, but that technique is a worry. Everyone thought Hawkins was a brilliant kick in his first few games.

He's got lovely hands, but I'm just having a go at the hype machine. Not for you Port fans, you should get excited, hell, you deserve it.

I think Butcher can genuinley be a power forward. Just has a great ability to jusdge the flight of the ball and great extension and hands. Terrible kick though but at least he can get it in a contested position in the forward 50 which is the hardest skill in footy.

Not sure about Watts. Still haven't seen anything to get excited about.

Butcher would be my pick.
