Excuse the intrusion. Not all Dees fan's wish ill will towards Jack W or Jack T - even Dom Barry. Jack was always one of my favourite Dees players - probably because of the way we shafted him in the early days to get butts on seats when he was not ready. Then we inflicted Mark Neeld on him. I for one hope he has a great career with you guys (except when he plays us then he can feel free to play one of his low intensity, go missing games). As for Jack T I hope you guys get to see more of his best as I hate seeing careers cruelled by injuries (Dees players or not).

Now back to your regularly scheduled Dees fans are weird comments.

DL.
Thanks mate. Must say, the Dees fans I've come across since Jacks Watts & Trengove were moved on all wish them well (though to be fair, they usually understand the reasoning behind it).
It's only a small minority of Dees fans who want to see them fall in a heap, and they just happen to be prolific BF posters.
And Bayley Fritsch is a very good player. Hope he survives being a forward at the Dees - the attrition rate so far is daunting.

So Mrs Wylde took Zakk Jnr to the school holiday clinic today...

She came home doting over how much of a gentleman Jack is. Said he was amazing and so good with the kids.

And yet again the common theme of him going above and beyond with his interaction. So good and engaging with the kids.

What a guy :hearts:

Port Adelaide forward Jack Watts admits the biggest fight to be AFL elite is with himself
The race is long, and in the end it’s only with yourself” - Baz Luhrmann.

The most encouraging sign that Jack Watts might finally win his much publicised, career long fight to become a consistent elite footballer, is the admission by Watts himself after last week’s 17 possession and two goal performance, that the biggest part of his fight is with himself. “The couple of weeks before I was dropped, I wasn’t doing much to be honest, I was just floating around and not getting a kick” Watts said in an honest self-assessment, adding “When I go through patches of games in the past and I’m just out of the game for so long; it’s hard to get back into the game”. Watts knows the cure to his own disease, “It’s probably just constantly telling myself to get involved, just get involved and and get around the ball and get into a contest because when I’m in a contest it usually works out alright” was Watts’ self diagnosis.

But he was quick to point out that the fix is not as simple as it sounds. “Backing yourself in, being aggressive at the contest, and go at the ball; it sounds pretty simple and people at home probably think how can you not do that all of the time. But you can get caught up sort of trying to do too much and trying to play your role” Watts said, in a confession that he is as frustrated as the fans are, with his inability to play well every week. But even more revealing was Watts admission that the playing environment during his nine seasons at Melbourne, was mentally restrictive and nowhere near as inspiring as it is at Port Adelaide, so his perennial battle to stay focused and motivated to perform should now be easier for him to win. “Certainly for me it’s different. If I’m being honest, I’ve had a lot of years where we’re already planning our Bali trips, and we’re one and twelve, or we’re two and fourteen” Watts said of his time at Melbourne adding “So it’s just that that motivation is there now (to play finals and challenge for a premiership at Port). And it’s tight for spots so I’ve obviously played in the SANFL the past two weeks and there’s that motivation to go out every day at training and give it everything you’ve got, and you are competing when you are doing match play at training, and you are giving it everything because you want to beat the guy you are playing on because you want to play. And that’s a different sort of atmosphere to what I’ve been in, in the past” Watt’s said in a startlingly revealing post game interview for Fox Footy that did not make it to air in Australia...................

10 points for honesty. It's refreshing.

All I expect from every player is to make every contest a contest. Too many times this year Watts has failed that.

The last month though has been good and hopefully he’ll take this attitude into 2019.

Jack's going to have to be a tall target in the forward line. He's had a bit of a Westhoff type role getting well up the ground as a link man but you pay key forwards the big $ to kick goals. Time to step up.

I've always liked him, like Hoff people need to realise he's not that stereotype crash and bash fwd. Atleast he doesn't have the body of Tex and refuse to make contact....

He's as smart as anyone and has arguably the best kick too. He just needs to be used to his strengths like Hoff is. It took years till he was figured out...

Love the optimism but this is not Watts' time to shine. Look at his record with Hogan vs without Hogan at the Dees. He's a second, ideally maybe even a third tall. He's not going to be our saviour this week.

Watts' time to shine will be next year when we hopefully have him, Ryder, Dixon and Marshall all up and running at the same time for the first time since Round 1. Which not coincidentally was our highest scoring game of the year and the best our forward line has looked since 2014.

It's almost like structure matters. :drunk:

He sees some great moves, but his team mates don't always have the same vision.

I had a dream that Jack stood up as a genuine hard leading hard hitting FF and carried Port on his shoulders to a Premierhsip and made every critic eat their words.

It was a really nice dream but I'd still rather us bring in Billy to play the Dixon role and let Jack do the roaming CHF role.

So at the start of the year everyone was like Watts is going to be hitting it lace out to dixon and he'll be just the class that we need to make us top 4 etc. I mentioned to you guys over and over again that he is Jack Watts and his lack of physicality is his downfall and restricts him from even being anything more than a fringe player. I even predicted that he would get dropped after your coaching staff figure that out. I hope not to be cut from the forum because I'm not trolling. My footy club persisted with Jack for 5 years too long. There are always excuses but 'next season' never comes.

I still like him, and every time he's involved, something good comes from it.

Jack had done exactly what we hoped he would, especially in the 2nd half of the year.

Our game plan and midfield issues are not his fault.

Take your gloating elsewhere you have made finals once, nothing to gloat over.
