So at the start of the year everyone was like Watts is going to be hitting it lace out to dixon and he'll be just the class that we need to make us top 4 etc. I mentioned to you guys over and over again that he is Jack Watts and his lack of physicality is his downfall and restricts him from even being anything more than a fringe player. I even predicted that he would get dropped after your coaching staff figure that out. I hope not to be cut from the forum because I'm not trolling. My footy club persisted with Jack for 5 years too long. There are always excuses but 'next season' never comes.
Mmmmm..I’m sure you’re not here to gloat, are you? o_O
He has shown some good stuff.
Hard to blame just Jack when our whole mid and forward structure is a massive stuff up.
Will see what he offers next year if our coaches get their ****ing act together.
Enjoy your brief finals appearance :D

Our forward line is completely dysfunctional. Our highest goal scorer is Robbie Gray with 35. Our next highest is Dixon with 26.

Watts is as much a victim of our poor ball movement and game style as anyone else. I know you really wanted to come in here and be smug about him not being up to scratch but you need some understanding about the way Port has tried to play this year. I havent had an issue with the way Jack has attacked the contest nor the way he uses the ball.

Enjoy playing finals. Let's see if you can win one.

Watts has performed admirably considering the mess of a gameplan we employed this season. Fix the gameplan and he'll be a beauty.

Watts is the canary in the coalmine for our gameplan. When we recruited him I was thrilled, because the way he played at Melbourne was exactly what we needed in our forward line at Port Adelaide. But at Port Adelaide for the most part he's been doing the same 'run to giant pack in the middle of the goalsquare and then try to lock the ball in' bullshit that the rest of our forwards do, rather than actually leading and creating good options. It's not our personnel that's the problem, it's what we're instructing our personnel to do.

Central highlighted how to do it properly on the weekend. If they come out next year and start bombing it in we've learnt nothing.

That interview he had after the game was powerful(no pun intended) seems like a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders playing his old side.
It was real raw. I really do like Mooney. I think you should pay attention to how Watts speaks. Listen to how he spoke of our youth and how they earned their spots not just gifted through 'talent'. I think he's a great speaker.

Watts able to use his skill for good.

Mooney's interviewing IQ was superb, sensed JW was struggling and took over, got him moving and composed again by shifting focus. As brilliant as Jack's intercept marking and pinpoint passes were.

best game I've seen him play. We all know he has elite kick but breaking through the three players, the tackling and effort is something new to his game.

I'd be over the moon if this is the new Watts.......doing some of the dirty work to help out the team.

He is a well educated young man who is certainly intelligent enough. It isnt his articulation that has been his issues. it is his footy that goes missing far more then his mouth. Lets hope he learns to harness his ability and mental strength and play too the ability he should and can.

Brilliant interview post game. He played with fire and a sense of urgency that not many people would've believed he had in him. There's a good chance the off season controversies are exactly what he needed to refocus him and give him the motivation to make something of his career. He's got the skill set to be a great AFL player, the mindset is all he needs to get right.

AN EMOTIONAL Jack Watts has opened up about the toll his controversial pre-season had on him, revealing there were weeks he didn't want to leave bed.
Watts was speaking to Fox Footy after Port Adelaide pulled off a surprise 26-point win over Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.
"It's just pure relief. I had weeks where I didn't want to get out of bed. I've never experienced anything like that," Watts said.
"I copped more shit from people saying that I'm no good at footy for 1000 years compared to what I've been through the last few months."
Watts, who turns 28 on Tuesday, has been a lightning rod for criticism for much of his career, which began when he was drafted by Melbourne with the first overall selection in 2008.

Maybe a couple of good kicks up the arse is what Jack has needed to get him motivated enough to apply all that talent he has. Bloody good start to 2019, but he had a good start to 2018 - got 14 coaches votes of a possible 25.

He was excellent today hope he tucks that under the belt and just keeps that standard and obviously it looks a better role for him.

Jack was at a cross-roads. The easy path would have seen his career fizzle out, the hard path delivered what we saw today. He's set for a big year.
