Jacob Brennan v Shaun Atley

After today's game and the niggle between WCE and North fans, thought now is a good time to compare both teams attacking half backs.
Both love to run and carry and are quick.

Personally think Jacob is just as good as Atley in every department, with Atley maybe slightly quicker, but Jacob being harder at the footy.

Both are very good footballers one a high draft pick the other a mature late father son pick.

I personally think Jacob is just ahead of him, but that maybe because he is playing in a better side
in wce with very experienced backs beside him.

Atley is overrated but was easily better today. Brennan was missing for much of the 1st half and didn't even have a possession in the 1st quarter. I like Jacob though and he could still end up the better player.

Yeah Atley. Brennan is probably harder at the ball. But Atley in most other areas, at this stage.

Don't think Brennan would be in the WCE best 21 with a fully fit team.

Atley is probably destined for the midfield, and last year played in the middle. He has only started played down back this year. According to the Essendon Football Club he has Judd-like ability, I was sceptical last year but he has improved out of sight this year. I am pretty happy we managed to get him with a pick 17, that is pretty handy.

both are good but not that good. certainly not good enough to have their own AFL thread. in any case, atley will become a midfielder and is about 3 years younger.

interested to hear more about the biffo between the fans. was ponting involved? did he bring his Kookaburra out? was watching siddle throw a few just as boring as watching him bowl?

Atley seems a little better because he is a lot more explosive with his movement. Brennan is a good young player as well without any obvious weaknesses. I'd probably take Atley given the choice but its really too early to call.

Lol thread. Brennan has certainly impressed me though. though he was undersized and wouldn't be suited to afl.

Tough as nails like his dad tho. Him smashing Goldstein may have had a big influence in the result...given cox and naita then proceeded room get on top.

Most of our injured are at the other end. The only defenders that I would put above him (that are out) is Waters and Selwood. Much more average players would make way for those two.

Brennan is a much better defender, probably a better kick to.

Reckon by seasons end Brennan will be in front, though it is fairly even now.

Nope agreed. But I haven't been that impressed with Atley this year. Conversely Brennans best, especially in terms of defensive ability has been very good. Wise head for such a young player.

yeh has had a good yr and hard at it too usually loves to run and spread and kick goals from HB

He is a second year player for crying out loud and he has been superb this year and very consistent.

I've taken an interest in Atley from day #1 as he was talked off as a possible draftee for the Eagles & I thought his 1st half had way too many errors, BUT he's only a kid. Got a real future.

Not so sure about Brennan, a late developer & Woosha is giving him the games, and the North game was his best to date.
Come finals time, I cant see Brennan keeping Ash Smith out if he is fit & he wont get the interchange role.
