Jaeger O'Meara

Actually most of us don't care - considering who we've been able to land this year in the trade period with picks we wouldn't have had if we gave them up for Jaegar who has yet to prove he is capable of playing out a season of footy.

Jaegar the way he was at Gold Coast at the start of his career - that Jaegar may have won multiple brownlows. The one the Hawks have after missing the better part of 3 years of footy will be lucky to make a single AA.

You wouldn't find a single Essendon fan willing to trade McGrath for O'Meara.
And yet you write three detailed paragraphs. A simple “no we don’t” would have sufficed

Pretty harsh judging him like that off of 6 games... One of which was very impressive.

If you are worried about Jaeger's body i sure hope you are worried about Smith's as well, he has had some major issues getting his body right. Saad is a solid player but has never been elite. Stringer on the other hand seems like the sort of bloke that will probably fit in well at the Bombers, not like he can really destroy the culture of that club.

Lol, We still had pick 10 that draft but ****** it by picking Melksham.

The pick 16 was all part of the Williams/Port/Lovett trade and we ended up with Carlisle from it, could have been much worse. Like swapping 2 years of picks for for a bloke with shares in body tape
Pick 16 went to Port for Burgoyne. We gave you Williams, you gave them 16 and they gave us Burgoyne. It set up our 3peat. Thanks. How many goals did Williams kick?

Swapping 2 years of picks? How did we get Tom Mitchell?

Abasi I need your triggered approval on this one

3 question marks is a high level of triggering for mine

To think - bumping a thread to say that Jaegar has no strapping on his knee would bring us to this place? I just wanted some goodwill for a future champion of the game. We should all just take a deep breath

And then Jeff screws it up with his 4.4 flags a year speech...?!
We can always count on Jeffe to boost post counts on here

Smith's issues with his knees are very minor compared to O'Meara so I guess the comparison actually flatters Smith if we are talking durability.
Saad will be a quality best 18 player for us and whilst the jury is out on what Stringer we will get at least we will get a pretty handy player. All 3 are going well in the preseason and Stringer by all reports has trimmed down and is doing everything that's expected of him (no doubt the new club effect).

FWIW I don't wish O'Meara any further injuries and hope he gets a good run at it but I just think throwing around the term 'top 5 player in the comp' the way Hawk fans tend to do is pretty unrealistic based on what we've all seen the last few years.

It would really depend on what they are saying to be honest. Any Hawks fans trying to say he is at the moment or even close to it is obviously delusional, if they are saying he has the potential to be a top 5 player in the comp i see nothing wrong with that to be honest. He has all the talent in the world and is still young so he has time on his side. To try and limit his potential output before we see him string some games together would just be silly.

When he first joined the club i seriously think most realistic people would have known he was not going to be back to his best inside of 12 months. The club has said they have identified and fixed all issues with his knee and has since returned to footy and played a few games of footy as well as a very good game to end the season. He is having a good pre season (cliche i know) but the point is he is training with no pain in his knee and seems to have really turned a corner. He is also in full training and has done just about every session of pre season so far, that is not something that could be said this time last season.

Jaeger will be fine, will be even better if the AFL introduces carrying tractor tyres on field as part of their latest raft of rule changes for the upcoming season...it's not beyond them as a fix for congestion or something

I saw David Trotter drag a tyre around Arden Street for 3 years.

He still only racked up 7 games.

Tom Mitchell is the inconvenient truth

Don’t be upset because he’s got the better hand, Dapper.

It's a tad ironic, wouldn't you agree, in a bumped thread about how fit O'Meara is looking and how well he will then go this year, to post a picture of a ripping O'Meara just before he went down for 2 years with a knee injury?

Damn you're on to us, here is a more up to date photo

Yeah but he got a job at Massey Ferguson after being delisted.

He's a player agent now.

I feel for the bloke, he had ability.

Every year throws up 4 or 5 of these stories.

We lost both of our prime picks in 2003/2004 to career ending injuries.
