Traded Jake Stringer [traded to Essendon]

Work rate and fitness. Barely works hard enough within 50 metres.
Geez gotta hate wasted talent.. this bloke could be anything if he pulled his finger out.

I'd love him at North but more then anything, we need midfielders and I just can't see him becoming that consistent 30 plus player.

Would you give up pick 4 for Stringer?

Although what you guys are willing to trade for Stringer is irrelevant since noone wants to go to North anyways.

Stringer is a kangas fan as a kid (not that it's a huge factor) and he's looking for a big contract.

Kangas fit.

I don't think the Roos list is as bad as people often make it out to be.

I'd rather no one than Mayne to be honest.

You would expect pick 4 in return, right?

True - everyone wants to go to the Pies and get paid way more than they are worth. Manye, Wells, Aish, Greenwood, White, Varcoe, Hoskin Eliott - its the Super booster graveyard club.

Let's put it this way, would you give up the next Cunnington for Stringer if your side had serious midfield deficiencies?

How would a Cunnington type help anyone?

Remembering Cunnington was rubbish for much of his early career and even now is part of north's one pace and skill deficient midfield problem.

It's worth putting up with bad stringer instead

As part of it yes.

I wouldn't close the door on maybe a swap of picks in your favour somewhere. Or like adding pick 26 and maybe a player of less value of yours to it.

The next Ben Cunnington for Stringer for a side that is seriously needing proper midfielders.............hmmmm.............lemme think........................

.............nah

Fine. We'll retain him or look elsewhere.

What's this got to do with Ben Cunnington btw?

Second year in a row that he's asked to be traded... if Carlton don't do it this time then AFLPA will step in and pull some shit.

This is different though, Gibbs wants to move and Carlton want to keep him as he's contracted (fair enough too)

If Stringer and the Dogs don't resolve the issue then both the club AND the player want to split (even though he's still contracted)
AFLPA will step in and do what? Gibbs is contracted, wasn't forced to sign a contract.

He's a figurative example of the last top 5 crack we had at a midfielder.

Stringer would be nice, but the next Cunners is crucial.

As much as i'm hesitant to give it away.

North's 2018 1st round pick
for
Stringer + 9

That's a potential top 3 pick in a superdraft year .....

They'll say he deserves to be happy or some shit, you know they will spin something. It's really pathetic how worthless contracts are, too easily broken.

That is such a silly trade on our behalf. Speculative as to where you finish next year and I've heard the term super draft thrown around a lot over the last 5 years.

Wouldn't go near it for a contracted Stringer.

He came 2nd in our B&F at 23 behind the best Ruckmen in the comp and at 24 won his 1st B&F - both years we finished top 4. The rubbish call is exactly that - rubbish.

So he could become worthless next year then?
That's one hypothetical.

Another hypothetical is that he recovers some form, turns it around, signs a new deal and everyone lives happily ever after.

The unknown here is how strained the relationship has become between Stringer and the Bulldogs. Assuming it's not damaged beyond the repair, the Dogs have to be willing to keep him if the right deal doesn't come along.

Being contracted means they'll get more than they would next year when he's out of contract.
See above.

Brett Anderson said he's worth a top 6 pick, Plough said he's worth a high end first round pick.

If we don't see an offer under pick 10, I'd hope that we keep him. Actually I hope that we keep him regardless.

What dogs need probably isn't around at pick 9 in the draft. As a dogs fan, I'm hoping Pies, Roos and Blues get involved. We need a top 6 pick.

So my preference would be something like

Pies get Stringer, we get 6 straight swap

Blues get Stringer, pick 9 and we get pick 3 and the Adelaide pick for Gibbs

Roos get Stringer, pick 9 and we get 4 and 21 and possibly a small set of steak knives.

If Richmond wanted him then I'd want their first, and Geelong's which they have - let's say pick 14 and 15 for arguments sake and we'd send them our second in return.
