Traded Jake Stringer [traded to Essendon]

Lever not worth more than stringer...Lever was in the AA squad this season and stringer has been down on form for 18 months. Lever is younger. Bulldog supporters are suggesting a 1st round pick for Stringer no higher than 10 (ie between 1 & 10) would be around the mark. Most commentary has Lever being worth a 1st round pick and extra on top. Re carlton and Stringer, maybe they do have other priorities, but if they lose gibbs it would be likely for a 1st round pick and if Stringer is worth a 1st round pick, then it appears to be not unreasonable in value terms - apart from that you may be right that carlton do have other priorities.

Stringer has already been AA - and is contracted and Lever is not. And has a lot more talent.

I hope for the Bulldogs' sake they can wind it back and repair the relationship should they not get the right deal. Because I'm not convinced they'll get the kind of top-drawer offer that truly spins their wheels.

Presumably they'd be knocking on doors at Richmond, Collingwood, Melbourne, Carlton and North, seeing what kind of first-rounders can be shaken loose.

On the face of it, Richmond seems the best fit, and they have two late first-rounders.

Yeah, Adelaide get Gibbs AND a pick for Lever......and you say that's not massive overs?
another way of doing the deal but trimming it to 3 sides to simplify it would be:
Lever to Melbourne for 1st & second round picks back to Adelaide.
Melbourne's 1st round pick (pick 9 or 10) passed from Adelaide to Carlton for Gibbs

I just included Stringer in there as he may be on the move. I would as a supporter be open to doing a swap with the bulldogs for Stringer and Lever with a swap of either 1st round or second round picks taking place because I think Stringer if he can recapture his form would be fantastic.

Has already been AA..a few seasons back now. As for more talent, maybe, but not the consistency and possibly not the upside now

Well if a club can get him into form (which is around 50 goals a year) he is more valuable than Lever ever will be. But we don't agree on this so no point debating it I think.

Agree they aren't going to get value for him now.
Well, it's hard to say what's value for him. He's a talented but inconsistent hybrid forward who probably won't be a genuine key forward.

Bulldogs fans say they want a top 5-6 pick, and he's contracted so it's not unreasonable to aim high. But if it's the club that has in fact initiated this, that changes things. If they dangle him out there, and don't get the right kind of bites, Stringer might well decide "screw you, I want to leave anyway". And then they've got damaged goods that they may be obliged to trade out for less than they hoped. It's tricky.

This one (stringer) is going to make it very interesting .A bit from left field
Great mates of Dellys (mad collingwood), maybe a 6 way trade involving pies , crows, lions, dogs, blues, suns could be the best for all.
Adelaide :lose lever to dogs, cameron to lions . Gain pick 6 (pies) ,pick 18 (lions) broomhead, gibbs, 2nd rounder 2018
Collingwood :lose pick 6 ,pick 3rd round lions(38?), broomhead, oxley, smith gain stringer harbrow
carlton lose gibbs pick up pick 6 and 18
dogs lose stringer gain lever
suns lose harbrow gain 38, oxley, smith
lions lose pick 18 and second round future 2018
winners Adelaide ,gibbs, broomhead and 2nd round future 2018, pies get stringer and harbrow, dogs get lever, lions get cameron, blues get good picks and the suns lose a problem child and get two QLDS and a pick for academy
everyone s a winner

What the actual **** is this? Does your computer have an enter key?

Therefore Melbourne + Lever, - 1st and second round picks
Bulldogs + melbourne's 1st round pick, - Stringer
Carlton + Stringer, - Gibbs
Crows + Gibbs & Melbourne's second round pick, - Lever

This seems pretty even-handed to me. Bulldogs get slightly dudded, but then if the trade is on the table it's only because he wants to leave the club and there are clearly some issues to go with it, so they have to accept that reduces his value somewhat.

Yeah and the thing is that the clubs he is worth the most to don't have the picks to match that value. He's a brilliant addition to a team that has most bases covered but he's not a guy that fills a structural need.

That's why I think Richmond is the best fit. But Dogs fans would want both those first-rounders at 15 and 16. Richmond would be entitled to offer one of them with steak knives. Picks 15 + 50 is equal to pick 10-11 in points value.

Would be an intriguing fit for Geelong if their other deals fall through and they get something for Motlop and Menzel.

Absolutely nailed it..

Worst thing about this discussion is he has the pontential to be the best player in the comp, just can't see him ever getting close to it.

TL;DR but can it be expanded too 7 and include Essendon?

Is it really necessary to involve six clubs?
to make it happen the easiest fairest way
blues want draft picks get 2 for gibbs
stringer wants pies
crows want gibbs
cameron wants lions
dogs want lever
collingwood want harbrow

I got no doubt that JJ was banging his wife now with this rumour despite it being said otherwise

There was never any doubt about this at all to begin with regardless what the players said when it broke out as they are not going to publicly state it are they really to protect the dignity of the Female involved and it happens at a heap of clubs at every level.

I would like us to have a look at him but have a feeling he will cost to much to get.

    1. EXIT MEETING HOME TRUTHS BEHIND STRINGER BUST UP: OX
      BY SEN IN 2 HOURS
David Schwarz has detailed what occurred in an end of season exit meeting which has led to reports that star forward Jake Stringer has fallen out with the Western Bulldogs and could be set to depart the club.
      GettyImages-835404644.jpg

Last night, Channel Nine’s The Footy Show reported that the 23-year-old is considering his future after becoming unhappy at the Bulldogs.

Schwarz said that Stringer’s yearly season review meeting with Bulldogs coaches and key staff is the reason why he may be wearing different guernsey in 2018.

“Jake Stringer had an exit meeting with the Western Bulldogs and was pretty confident that when he walked in there that there’s been some extenuating circumstances for some of the things that have gone on this year, so he walked in rather confident that things would be alright,” Schwarz explained on SEN’s The Run Home.

“Half way through the meeting things broke down severely, he walked out and was very, very, very annoyed and upset about what was said.

“A lot of home truths were said about his preparation, his training, his rehabilitation, the way he has presented himself to the club – often late, and a myriad of other things.

“No doubt they are a long way apart at the moment, the Western Bulldogs and Jake Stringer.

Schwarz said that there is already one club who is interested in obtaining the 2016 premiership forward’s services.

“North Melbourne (have) a lot of interest towards Jake.”

Stringer has kicked 160 goals in 89 career matches after being selected at pick six in the 2012 draft, but has suffered from a slump in form over the past 12 months and averaged just 1.4 goals per game this season — his lowest output since 2014
