Traded Jake Stringer [traded to Essendon]

Hard to put a real value draft pick wise. 2 good seasons however has struggled recently. Also BT hyped up the package big time. Did he get ahead of himself?
If he gets himself right he can be a be a very damaging player. Last pre season we heard he was fitter than ever and going to play mid. But it's hard to judge how that worked out given the injuries this year.
Someone will give up a first rounder if he's available.

Factoring in the obvious off-field issues with Libba and being dropped to VFL level playing 18 games at Senior level this year.

And Jake Stringer being AA 2 years ago and clearly hasn't regained that form due to off-field problems/injuries etc and now the club and Stringer willing to part ways? (or so it's been reported as that is why this thread was created)

Not sure what you're expecting when players and the club don't see eye to eye and think it's best if both are moved on?

He have may been not quite so good as 2015. But still has led the clubs goal kicking in our flag year in 16 and in 2017.

What would you want for your clubs leading goal kicker who has been an AA and who is contracted? Trying to lower value by saying club and player don't see eye to eye adds little. Just about every player who moves has that issue.

Realistically a top 5 pick is a starting point and no doubt we'd be hoping for more. In EFC terms that's this year and next year's first round picks just as a starting point.

Tiges fans and North fans have already provided this price in this thread so that ain't just a delusional Dog fan talking.

I actually think he'd be perfect as Brown / Waite would fulfill that role well, leaving Stringer on the 3rd or 4th defender where he dominates.

He's worth 1-2 wins per season based on his own freakish ability, but any club that gets him will have to be prepared to take the good with the bad.
I am definitely keen to get him, as north really need that impact player.

That would be a half-decent forward line.

Wood - Waite - Garner

Stringer - Brown - Simpkin

As I said earlier, I don't think we have the currency to get him.

If you don't get Kelly you do.

Lots to play out.

If he goes I'd have North as favourites. Precisely the marketable player North need who will be at his peak at 26 or 27 after the rebuild.

Should go somewhere with an established key forward set up so he can play 3rd tall/ high half forward - he'd have a shot of regaining his best form if he's down the pecking order.

Sydney or Essendon would be good fits.

His form has been poor for the best part of 2 years now - the premiership glory glossed over things a bit but his back end of 2016 was poor and he was dropped at times if I remember right.

Crameri was our leading goal kicker for 3 years straight and he went for a 2nd rounder (albeit I admit he wasn't AA) but still at the time you could say the saga obviously put us in a precarious position, at the same time if the relationship is fractured so much between the Doggies and Stringer then it does devalue him as he's leaving because he doesn't want to be there anymore.

Again, this is yet to be confirmed but if it is then his value will go down.

Surely you would play him as a midfielder. A line breaking player through the midfield as it is exactly what North needs

Yea, I mentioned that earlier before my reply to Mofra. Stringer would rotate more in the midfield with Ziebell playing more up forward. I really hope North, at the very least, put an offer to the dogs for Stringer.

Quick question, aside from the broken leg thing, which I don't see as much of an excuse now. why doesn't he play more midfield minutes at the dogs??

Did you just compare the B grade out of contract Crameri with drug suspension hanging over him to Stringer? Oh I see, you say you're not comparing them but thought you'd just mention it all the same. Lol.

Ah m8, you've been suckling at the teat of Satan (Dodoro) for too long.;)

A lot to play out - and like every clubs fans and list managers and many player managers I guess I just hope our leaving player doesn't choose EFC:)

Do EFC fans wonder why they rarely land a big fish in a trade? :(

He went pick 5 in 2012. Why is that relevant?

Jimmy Toumpas went #4 that year. What's he worth in a trade?

The reality is that Stringer sucked last season. As I said, if he is determined to leave, I doubt you'll get a bumper offer. The Bulldogs should enforce his contract.
So he could become worthless next year then? Being contracted means they'll get more than they would next year when he's out of contract.

Dodoro did bring us Fantasia, Merrett & Tippa so i'll suckle for a little longer thanks ;)

I don't wonder, we've been the biggest red flag of the AFL since the Saga started so I fully expect no one willing to come to us in those times.

I do think that we are starting to look more attractive now to players and if we don't land a big fish this offseason i'm not phased.

Happy to continue drafting and developing the kids!

Also, strongly disagree with this. If the last couple trade periods have proven anything it's that even if you're contracted it doesn't matter, you can pick and choose and still nominate and the club usually obliges by that.

This ain't NBA contracts where the teams ship you off to wherever.

It's pretty much Bryce Gibbs 2017

Second year in a row that he's asked to be traded... if Carlton don't do it this time then AFLPA will step in and pull some shit.

This is different though, Gibbs wants to move and Carlton want to keep him as he's contracted (fair enough too)

If Stringer and the Dogs don't resolve the issue then both the club AND the player want to split (even though he's still contracted)

No question EFC's drafting is as good as it gets...I wouldn't be fazed either. Stick to the draft. I have the same view of the Dogs - good drafter but shit traders.

Was the last big fish traded to EFC 'shotgun' Williams?

Saw him with that barrel at the EJ Whittens game and thought "**** YOU campaigner"

Stringer demands a first round pick. If he was go to Essendon than a fair trade would be for our first round (pick 12). Personally, I don't know about him. Seems to have a lot of off field issues and they don't go away by changing clubs.

Definitely worth a top 5 draft pick.

No chance of coming up to Sydney unfortunately, but if he and his family wanted to escape the scrutiny in Melbourne and potentially reconcile with one another (he and his ex-fiancee), then I'd be happy to give the Bulldogs Kennedy and our first rounder. An unbelievable player.

Pick 4 looks close to his worth IMO.

Pick 12 wouldn't get it done IMO.
