Watson, and it isn't close. There are few mids in the AFL that genuinely make the others in their midfield better players, and Watson is one of them. Murphy is not.

At Watson's best he racks up 35+ touches, plenty of tackles and clearances and carries the team on his back.

What is Murphy at his best? 3 front-running goals?

Haha Correct :thumbsu:

It's Watson by a mile. Reminds me a bit of Sam Mitchell in his prime

Can we combine Murphy's front running ability with Jobe's inside ball winning ability?

Because Murphy is average in the clinches and Jobe is a liability with the ball in space and forced to use the ball by foot.
Jobe kicked 10.1 in 2010. Out of all the midfielders he is one of the most lethal shot for goal in the game.

What a pathetic stat this is! 10 goals from 5 metres out directly in front? I would take Murphys 19 goals 11 behinds over Watson's 10.1. The year before Watson 10.10 to Murphy 31.17.

50 goals 28 points V 20 goals 11 points. Yeah Watson is a lethal goal kicking mid.

Obviously none of you trolls watch Essendon games. Jobe didn't kick any of his goals from in or near the goalsquare.

Murphy should kick more goals then Watson anyway considering he is a soft outside mid who rotates through the half forward line.

Lol, you pop up in an Essendon thread, what a surprise.

Watson single-handedly destroyed your mob last year on one leg. Bitter much?

Murphy by the length of the flemington straight and then some

Watson only stands out because the rest of the midfield @ Essendon is terrible.

Was he injured?

If Jobe can play more games like that this season he'll get the credit he deserves.

His calf was gone, did it a week or two prior but kept battling on with it getting worse ever week until he finally pulled the plug after round 21. He plays to a similar standard most weeks but doesn't get credit for it.
