dident do much today bit strange i say put him to full foward and get us some more goals spend abit of time in ruck but more in the foward line.

I think Jolly is a ruckman, first and foremost, and that is just what we really needed the most.

He obviously didn't have his best game today, but a) he was probably settling in and b) the dogs had two pretty vigorous and competent ruckmen, who double teamed him a bit aswell.

Give him time I reckon, don't think he'll let anyone down too much.

I don't think he was horrible - showed a couple of glimpses. That we won such a tough match-up without dominating the ruck is a positive anyway.

Lukey, ill humor you, Jolly is a ruck not a forward he has never played as a forward bar floating down for the odd goal, there is a reason for this, HE IS A RUCKMAN!!!!!

Just had a down game. Don't stress too much, he's a better player than that and will be back up next week :thumbsu:

the interpretation of the ruck contest by the umpires was a disaster today, I think both Hudson and Jolly had no idea who was getting a free kick every time the whistle blew

who the hell cares.

there was a moment in the game where I got a little tear in my eye...

when jolly double palmed the ball back straight into the arms of the great Dane who snapped truly. Seriously it was something I personally have never thought I would see from a collingwood ruckmen...

Well, not in the last 15 years at least.

That was a moment of pure joy.

He was OK as MM said he just looked like a player who was getting used to the team the one thing that concerned me was he seemed to be fixated on the opposition player rather then ball at center bounces

he should have benn AA ruck last year, was far more influential than Sandliands, so I think no problem. Against us he had something like 55 hitouts last year. Be nice to have those coming our way

Didn't the doggies supporters tell us that Jolly usually has a terrible game against them and he is still settling in so nothing to worry about yet.

He will destroy the Dees Rucks

I'm certainly Jolly.:D

Sydney have not beaten Western Bullies since Rnd 9 2007 (with Jolly Rucking) and Jolly has not featured in the top 20 players for Sydney in the last five meeting between the two sides.

No surprise he was not outstanding today against the Bulldogs. Minson and Hudson are normally played two up on him, with Jolly taking the bulk of the ruckwork for Sydney. The last 4 matches were on large grounds, MCG, Manuka Oval and Etihad which may add some weight to the "big ground" theory.

Todays stats.
Jolly 16 HO, Hudson 18 HO.
Fraser 8 HO, Minson 10 HO.

Hardly a huge disparity.

He did his job so I'm not complaining.

A bad game from Jolly = the opposition earning their clearances.

A bad game from Fraser = the opposition dominating clearances.

He will destroy the Dees Rucks

Would hope so.

Davey boy how can you destroy that which does not exist?

Do not underestimate the big Russian....he dominated the ruck on Satday, had 30 odd hitouts and is a big lad.....Jolly will earn his keep against Jamar.

Still got first tap and majority of the time our midfielders first touches of the ball. Down on normal form yes, but he is 4x as good a player as he was today, but if hes giving our mid first use of the ball what more can you complain? Its something we haven't had since monkhurst stopped playing.

lol give it time...

there was a few problems with him i notcied alot today...
1) centre clearance ruck duals- looking at oppo ruckman when running in to jump
2)jumping in to early clashing with oppo ruckman giving away frees for it
3)boundary throw ins- at the start was always behind the oppo ruckman holding him, but as soon as he got in front he was winning every tap

i think he will prefer the MCG more than etihad due to the fact the weather conditions, and how the turf will be more softer from the rain.
