The word scanty is most commonly used to describe female lingerie, therefore in choosing this word, I've come to the conclusion that deep down you were really thinking about sex when writing this. Over the years much of your writing has made me conclude that you are male. As we all know, for males thoughts about sex are often associated with growth in width and length. When we put these things together, it's clear that deep down, even though you may be reluctant to admit it, you believe from the photographic evidence that Daicos has grown enormously in width and that Murphy's vertical growth spurt makes him a lock to become a great KPP.BF thrives on extrapolating as much as possible from the scantiest of sources.

Or as you suggested his mind wandered to a happy place as he was writing his scant words....The word scanty is most commonly used to describe female lingerie, therefore in choosing this word, I've come to the conclusion that deep down you were really thinking about sex when writing this. Very witty - and who knows, you may have somewhat perceptively uncovered the true motives behind my Doubting Thomas approach to the claims being made about these 2 players. Perhaps there is even a penis envy element to my questioning of growth spurts (though Daicos' muscle and chest size has inarguably increased). In context, 'scanty' may not have been a wise choice - I all too briefly pondered a more mainstream alternative. The word scanty is most commonly used to describe female lingerie, therefore in choosing this word, I've come to the conclusion that deep down you were really thinking about sex when writing this. 'Briefly', as in briefs - my extrapolation rests.Very witty - and who knows, you may have somewhat perceptively uncovered the true motives behind my Doubting Thomas approach to the claims being made about these 2 players. Yep.....I think we both picked Sier to break through last year and we've both picked Murph to go well in 2019.And with such conviction too.
Got to love it; never change BF.
Ps TheGreat have I mentioned that I think Murphy will be our breakout player this coming season![]()
Interesting! It should be this chap: http://www.demonwiki.org/Joe+SierYep.....I think we both picked Sier to break through last year and we've both picked Murph to go well in 2019.
My other prediction, with which I am sure you won't agree, is that Sier will struggle in 2019. Hope I'm wrong on this. From all accounts he's a terrific young man.
I struck up a conversation with a lady at training last week, or rather she with me. She wasn't a Collingwood supporter she said, but was there to get an autograph for her daughter. Sier was running nearby and I suggested he had finally got it together. I then said that he's got everything a player needs except perhaps football judgement. This is just a feeling I have about Brayden and I do hope that I am totally wrong. It was then she told me that Sier was a relative. Oh dear! I did some hurried backtracking, telling her I'd watched him closely for a few years and was delighted with his finish to 2018.
She said he is a carbon copy of his dad in that he is very laid back and unflappable. She told me his dad played for Melbourne Under 19s and that he comes from a close-knit (he lives at home) family who really contribute to their local community.
Memo to Neil: be careful what you say to strangers at training!
Reports say that Josh is training very well. Always had the touch but most excitingly are the reports that his leg speed and endurance are really on the improve. I really didn't see him getting very much game time in 2019... but might a smokey to play regularly

Can't imagine you can improve leg speed too much. But he's been looking good from what I've seen. It's going to be so hard to get into the midfield and forward line though.
I just wanted to include this bit of trivia!! Joseph Sier was in the Victorian Teal Cup (U17) team in 1979, and was named in the All-Australian side. So he was obviously a talented junior footballer, though he never graduated to senior (VFL) football. He played Under 19s for Melbourne in 1979 and 1980. In the same team at one stage (in 1979) was Peter Maynard, who went on to play a few senior games for the Demons, and to sire Brayden Maynard! Here they are both named in the best players from the Rd. 3 1979 U19's game:Yep.....I think we both picked Sier to break through last year and we've both picked Murph to go well in 2019.

Thanks! I just did a search for "Sier" on this site (https://www.slv.vic.gov.au/football-record || http://digital.slv.vic.gov.au/R) and looked at any of the "hits" from around 1979-80.Impressive! How on earth did you find that?
I'm with you on Sier. We need his power through the midfield. Pendlebury will be playing a slightly different role this year which makes Sier an even more important player in our midfield rotations than last year. Provided he stays fit and healthy I can't see him missing out on senior games this year. Beams won't be competing against Sier. They play different roles. The pressure will be on some of our other mids. And of course injuries will present opportunities for others to perform.Sier for 2019 will be a good watch.
I’m not in the camp of worrying about his second senior year.
I expect him to become a vital cog in our midfield machine.
Sier just brings something different, he extracts the ball and uses it very well.
On say limited game time of about 3/4 of a game he’s racking up 20 possessions of good quality.
He looks so strong and tackles well, keeps his feet and is resistant to tackles on him.
A beast.
Ofcourse he will have to work very hard and put in and earn it. Of this I’m sure he will.

For those that don't know, there's a copy of every edition* of the Football Record from 1912 onwards (except the Grand Final Record from 2018) on that site; you can view/download them if you wish.
* Only from more recent years is every edition of the Record from every round available (i.e. a different one for every match played each round); go back a few years and you "take pot luck" with which one they have. It is a fantastic resource, and makes searching for "obscure stuff" like this so much easier!
That and you have a very clever avatar name.I found myself in the Football Record from 1973 where I kicked a goal in the Little League Grand Final which we won. In those days it was 7 min/2 halves and only one game played, sometimes we'd play the full ground instead of across. I'd never seen the record before as the results appear the next week. Thanks for the tip. Although I played for another club you'll be happy to know we beat Carlton. It was played at Princess Park and Carlton crowd booed us as we did a lap of honor. Booing 11 year olds. Just gave one more of the many reasons I hate the scum.
