Before I start this, I'm going to say 'touch wood' *knock*.

I think we'd be underselling ourselves if we didn't think we'd be a strong chance to bring home 7 wins in our next 8 games.

We've got a struggling Port side in Adelaide, W
a sub-par Richmond in Sydney, W
an uncharacteristically spoon contending West Coast at Subi, W
our two bogey sides - St.Kilda and Collingwood (both in a bit of bother) - at home, W W
the foot of the table Demons in Canberra, W
the Blues - who continue to keep on 'almost' getting to be a good side - at the Dome, W
and finally we've got Hawthorn at the MCG. L

Apart from the Hawks game, I believe we'll win all those matches.

That would put us at 11-4-1 after 16 rounds and we'd have almost sewed up a top four spot.

I may be getting a tad ahead of myself but it's an interesting one to ponder.

Yikes. Just because you think it doesn't mean you're allowed to say it.

*Tuco gestures to the footy Gods begging their forgiveness for South Swans knows not what he does* :D

But yes, considering that 5 of those 8 are away games we are in a fairly positive position at the moment. Especially if *Knock wood* Hall is back for 5 of them.

We could win pretty much all our remaining games and still not finish top 4. Hawthorn, the Dogs and the Crows will most likely drop the odd game here or there but we need at least one of them to sink back towards the pack in a big way for top 4 to look achievable. It's annoying, since all games other than the Geelong one were probably winnable. But with the gap between the top sides and the bottom ones looking wider than it has for some time, we are probably already relying on others to falter from current form as much as we are for our own boys to pick it up a notch or two.

I reckon your pretty hopeful.
I think the Port game is 50/50 at best. I don't think they're struggling I think they have been playing some damn good footy and were unlucky against the Hawks and we are anything but brilliant at the moment. I agree with you on WC, St Klueless, the Dees and Blues, but we ALWAYS struggle against the Pies and see no reason why this year will be any different.

We're definately a chance to win all of those games - even the Hawthorn game. Gonna have to be at our best though, I can just as easily see us dropping games to Port, Saints and the Pies as winning them. Depends what Swans team turns up to play - first half Swans from last week, or second half Swans.

Yeah, that gap is pretty huge. I think 5th or 6th is the best we could hope for at this stage. Our percentage is quite good though.

I'd say top 2 is already gone, and we have to basically pick up 3 games on the Doggies to get a shot at 3rd.

But it's been a strange year. I can't remember ever seeing a season where 3 teams were unbeaten after 8 rounds and 3 teams were on 1 and 7.

I agree. Whist I think we can beat any side IF we play to our potential, I wouldnt be marking any of those games down as 'wins'.

This weekend's game will be a tough one. Port havent been great but neither have we, and it's always hard to win over there.

You can always expect at least one team to get off to a great start and have a pretty big lead on the rest of the pack, but three teams?? Very strange. Good for the game though - at least it's not just one team out there flogging everyone else.

One week at a time!

it's a cliche, but you're right to use it now

we cannot get ahead of ourselves, we're not that good a side ... yet
as many have pointed out, if we repeat our form of the 45 minutes either side of halftime against essendon we'll struggle to stay in the 8
having said that, if we can at least maintain our form, we're as good a chance as any bar the cats and hawks
i still think the dogs aren't in their class yet (they snuck home against the crows and freo, and no one can tell me they got the breaks and kicked for goal better than we did in the game they beat us by 18 points)

i haven't made any kind of study of the draw for other teams, so i'm not sure what lies ahead for the dogs and crows, but i don't rate the crows any better than us, and in fact i think they're very vulnerable in terms of top 4

the best thing in our favour is the number of really ordinary sides behind us (although i believe collingwood are much better than they've shown so far)

I can see the Brisbane Lions winning their next three games which are home games so any slip up from the Swans and we are heading down the ladder.

One week at a time indeed.

Port were one of the form sides over the last Month and at home they will be more than a challenge.

Will look who our opposition is after that.

i'm not that impressed with the lions, not as much as many others seem ... and i reckon the saints, as inconsistent as they are, might just beat them up there this weekend
