I have one for the Xbox (don't own one!) if anyone wants it. PM me.

Did you enter a competition?

I got one too so anyone that wants it PM me or I'll just chuck it up on here later tonight I guess.

Yeah the EB one, didn't even look at what platform the game was on!

HAHA I entered the EB one too. I saw it while I was entering in the stuff, I decided to still go ahead as I figured I would give it away if I got it anyway.

Hahaha!

My code is now goneski!

So giving this a go after it hit the PSN today.

I can't say it's any better than the first. The 3rd person controls are a bit more solid but they're still fairly loose and only just feel manageable (actually get the feeling that it'd work way better as an FPS as over dominated a market as it is).

The camera is very awkward, I love the style they're going for but it's very disorienting and you quite often can't see much because everything is so dark, which goes into the camera being this grainy dark handheld thing. When you're running the camera gets really shaky and blurry, so it's probably not a good thing to run.

Have only given the MP a go so far (and there's a SP section to play, will do that tomorrow) but as good a mode as you get with Fragile Alliance - basically you have to steal money from an armour-guard van and then make it out with a bunch of cops shooting at you. The twist being that if you're a greedy bastard you can shoot your teammates dead and loot their bodies, catch is they come back as cops and if they kill you, you get no money. So it's a great thing of "Will my teammates betray me? Will they stick together with me? Or do I go for the kill before giving them the chance" - the mechanics just break the mode down into something that is no where near as good as it should be. Still fun, but not hugely fun like it most definitely has the potential to be (I would LOVE to see a game with solid TPS mechanics apply this mode or something similar).

I was an absolute **** in the latter missions once I got into it a bit more. We got to the end twice before you hop in the getaway vehicle and I shot one guy (the last guy left) down and stole his money then proceeded to get away in the getaway vehicle both times. Managed to earn myself more than $3,500,000 (which if you're lucky you'll earn around $500,000-$1,000,000 for a mission).:D:thumbsu:

The map you get just doesn't really offer a whole lot, feels VERY linear (and if it's not, it's very hard to know if you can explore it anyway). You don't get much of a time limit (which is understandable to an extent as you don't want people just systematically taking down the cops for 10 minutes, but an extra minute or two on top of the 4 you get would be nicer just to bring a bit more of a methodical approach if you wanted it and you most definitely need it if someone else has popped up as a cop).

It's hard to know a lot of the time who is shooting you and from where, also very hard to know where the actual objective is, hard to know if you're shooting someone and also takes too many bullets to put someone down, that coupled with not really being able to see your enemies that well makes things harder and more frustrating than they need to be. These sorts of things are basics in any game that aren't usually hard to get right.

There's some things they do have right, the cover system is very good, not too sticky and seems to always know exactly what you want to go into cover against.

It feels like it could do with a few things that would just expand this and make it absolutely fantastic (on top of needed improvements in gameplay mechanics). Things like destructable environments (there's very minor destruction), interactive environments (there's interaction with fire extinguishers but I didn't see anything else, being able to improvise with almost anything would be awesome). And more open environments would be perfect, being able to have an intricate weave of areas to go in instead of just the same outside areas over and over.

Finding myself still liking the MP despite a miriad of issues (and the camera going spotty when running shits me to tears as you can't see the pitch black cops in a pitch black corner). It continually freezes up the PS3 after 2 sessions (2 rounds then you have to re-join a lobby then get another 2 rounds) and I am starting to wonder if that is good for the PS3 having to do that all the time.

The SP part of the demo is a bit meh TBH, the guns are really underpowered and the cover seems to be a lot worse than in the MP (had numerous cover breaking on me without the enemy really knowing that I would've been there and even getting shot while behind cover). There are some cool and funny features though, like when you headshot a civilian their head pixelates like it's on 'Cops' or something.

I dunno, I reckon the MP has a ton of potential to be awesome (which depends massively on who actually plays it) and I think the SP has some good story potential as well. But there's a shitload of frustrations still despite some improvements from the first.

IMO it's a cheapie pick up and nothing more. Will wait until it's sub $50 I reckon.

KANE AND LYNCH 2: DOG DAYS REVIEW
Closing Comments

A recommendation for Dog Days isn't hard, though it is filled with qualifications. If the story and characters haven't caught your interest yet, or if you're just not interested in crime thrillers, then there's probably not going to be enough in Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days to keep you playing. Outside of the story it tells, how it tells it, and the interesting conceit of its multiplayer modes, Dog Days is just a passable third person shooter. But if you appreciated the promise of the last game, or you're looking for something darker and more sophisticated content-wise than your usual shooter fare, then Kane & Lynch 2 is just the thing.

8.5 Presentation
Io picked a visual theme and really nailed it in Dog Days - from loading screens that "buffer" to the visual styling, Dog Days is presented extremely well.

8.0 Graphics
There are moments where Dog Days looks rough, with low detail models and awkward animations. However, the online video styling of the visuals really works.

8.0 Sound
Dog Days sounds as well as could be expected, as dominated by gunfire and profanity as it is. The voice acting remains excellent.

6.0 Gameplay
Dog Days' biggest problem is its controls - the shooting still feels awkward and the cover system often feels broken.

7.0 Lasting Appeal
Kane & Lynch 2 is a shortish single-player experience - about 7 hours. If you can get past the controls, there is some pretty interesting stuff going on in multiplayer though.

OVERALL 7.0

haha yeah the demo was really bad. I liked the setting a lot, but the shaky cam, deliberate pixelation effects and the way the enemy's could take entire clips to take out was enough for me to know I didn't want to buy it. The controls felt laggy on PC also for me, and the performance was terrible on my PC.

...and this is coming from someone who actually liked the original K&L.

And straight down to a whopping $59 at JB hifi a month? after release.
LOL yeah, probably a situation where too many orders were put in and it's just sold like 5% of that so they need to get rid of them ASAP.

Probably not even really worth a buy at that price, I really enjoy the premise of the multiplayer, but just so much of the gameplay is wrong.

I got burnt by the first one, thought it would be awesome and it was rather ordinary. Traded that and sonic for GTA4 at JB hifi. (when they had 2 for 1)

I like the grit/rawness of it and it swore a lot but the aiming and AI reactions bugged me. Not a whole lot going for it.
