Apart from that 1 game, Kepler hasn't shown the world that he was worth retaining. Theres no chance he'd get a game here any more.

Tend to disagree.

Round 9
16 possessions, 4 marks, 1 hitout and 5 clearances against Carlton.

Round 10
22 possessions, 8 marks, 6 hitouts and 5 clearances against Port Adelaide.

Round 18
17 possessions, 4 marks, 5 hitouts and 2 goals against West Coast.

Round 19
14 possessions, 3 marks, 1 hitout and 3 goals against Sydney.

Those are the 4 games he's played as a backup ruckman. Pretty good stats IMO. I'd keep him based on his form as a backup ruckman. If Warnock leaves (i hope he doesn't). Kepler could play 22 games next season. If he continues to average over 16 possessions and a goal. Fremantle would be ecstatic with his output.

Look he obviously can play, winning a larke medal and being taken in the top 10 of a draft means that your should do alright.

As a back-up ruckman, 1 hitout is worst than what Laycock gets. His overall output around the ground is much better, and so it should be seeing Laycock gives 0% around the ground.

I don't think he'll make it long term as a back up ruckman, maybe you'll get 3 or 4 seasons out of him.

Hopefully he makes a good career out of himself, his career wasn't helped by sheedy trying to make him into a Centre Half Back.

PS. I Voted Bradley anyway.

*stats taken from footywire.

After Keplar's relatively good game against Sydney, 3 goals and 14 possessions playing as the backup ruckman, it got me thinking.

Did Essendon delist the wrong guy?

So far this year Laycock has been a big dissapointment. Most of the Essendon supporters have been highly critical of his season.

Keplar's versatility saw him start at FF (in the 2nd half) while Sandilands was rucking and took an impressive mark followed by a goal. He's 199cm and 102kg. He's averaging over 16 possessions a game and 1.2 goals a game from his 6 games for Fremantle.

Laycock is averaging 8 disposals a game and just under a goal a game. With Hille dominating the ruck, should Essendon have kept Keplar instead?

No, we kept Laycock, as you need two ruckmen, although Kepler's 2.2 hitouts per game seems pretty tempting.

Stupid poll, both muppets, but at least Laycock serves a purpose at the Bombers.
