Ben Demertzis is a Port Adelaide legend
He deserves a "Universal Love" thread! Does he have one already?

Making our community proud?Yes Ben helped me out on a few occasions with membership queries etc.
Nothing was too much trouble for him
Shattered when he departed
I booked some tix to a 36'ers game a year or so back, but COVID messed that around. Got in touch with the Sixers - and lo and behold who calls me back but none other than Ben!
Went to the trouble of re-arranging our game for us. Again, no trouble for him. What an absolute prince of a bloke
Advised me to get back in touch when we sorted out which game we wanted to go to and he'd fix it.
Sadly, something in our family came up just prior to the gig we re-planned attending, so ended up not going.
Notwithstanding all that, just sayin' that people of that ilk and dedication to genuine customer service are like gold. You just don't get many of them in the world these days.
Absolute privilege to have come across him.
Port really have ****ed it up completely by p***ing him off from the Club. He was soooo important to them, it just beggars belief! Sounds like it was old mate having a fair bit to do with it too
Friend of my wife had a daughter who worked at the Club. Did a decent job of it too. Walked away because COVID caused temporary staff cuts, and she was one of those.
When things improved, she went back, but was told she could work decent amount of hours, but a fair chunk would have to be"volunteer" work. Weren't prepared to pay her for the hours she put in, so got a job elsewhere.
Hmmmm.

LOOK AT THE BALANCE SHEET HURRDURRRThis is stupid on many levels, yet I'm not surprised the club did it.

We aren't a for profit organisation so why are we running like one. Obviously spending needs to be in check, but we're gutting so much lol.Making our community proud?
Edit: I don't want my club to be paying down its debt and reporting a $2m profit at the expense of employees. Scummy move.

A for profit business making a profit has zero excuse not to pay employees for their time. Either it's worthwhile and necessary work or it isn't.We aren't a for profit organisation so why are we running like one. Obviously spending needs to be in check, but we're gutting so much lol.
From what my missus heard, the young lass was not an isolated case. Sadly. This is stupid on many levels, yet I'm not surprised the club did it.
If the board fractured and a no confidence motion in Koch was put at board level, and the vote was 6-4, 7-3, 8-2, 9-1 then it would be untenable for Koch to remain as chair and probably also stay on the board. This begs the question... can Koch be ousted from the Chairmanship? Or has he essentially been grandfathered in via the AFL and so is only answerable to them?
If it's the latter, we are royally screwed.

That's possibly one facet of our financial improvement, if we have reinstated previously employed staff as volunteers. Not a winning strategy longer term you'd think.Yes Ben helped me out on a few occasions with membership queries etc.

Once there were a lot, now there are just too many.Especially when there’s how many Hinkleys on the payroll?
36ersDoesn't this ben fellow work at the crows now ?
Sounds like the sort of fella we could use running our membership departmentBenny D has managed to absolutely lift the 36ers membership and attendances to the point of sell out crowds with a team who are pretty resoundingly putrid

If not running the whole clubSounds like the sort of fella we could use running our membership department
The article states Warren first approached the Club about getting onto the Board as far back as grand final week of last year. Koch only states now that they haven't picked him because they don't want to pick club legends over club legends. Yet Koch has no problem stringing Warren along the last 5 months or so.
This doesn't add up. He's our Club's only AFL premiership captain, has a great footy brain and would have immediately replaced an elite sporting director (Cahill) with another elite sportsmen. It also would have placated thousands of fans who like myself were pissed off with Koch after his last media tirade endorsing Hinkley before a review of the season had even taken place.
Koch has to go asap. At the very least he needs a better answer to why Tredrea isn't on the Board when the members ream him about it at the AGM tomorrow night.
It tells you that he’s scared shytless … and sees the writing on the wall.Kochie blocker Tredrea from his socials, what's that tell you about the president
