Kouta if he won the AFLPA MVP that is a higher honour as the players that you play against see you as the best player which easilier beats winning the brownlow which is chosen by a group of umpires who dod you think the player respects more.

Incorrect. It was 1997.

"The next couple of seasons brought highs and lows. Grant polled 27 votes in the 1997 Brownlow Medal count, one more than Robert Harvey's 26, but was ineligible after a suspension for striking Hawthorn's Nick Holland."

"Ineligibility

Historically, players who are suspended at some time during the season by the AFL's disclipinary tribunal for serious on-field offences (for instance, punching another player) were ineligible for the award. Suspended players have tallied the highest number of votes for the award on several occasions. This first occurred in 1996, when Corey McKernan received the same number of votes as winners James Hird and Michael Voss, but was ineligible due to suspension. (Interestingly, McKernan would be named the AFL Players Association MVP in the same year.) In the following year, Chris Grant of Western Bulldogs had the most votes, but a one-week suspension ruled him out of the Brownlow Medal, which went instead to St. Kilda's Robert Harvey."

my bad:o ,

fine, the most dominating season by any player is Robert Harvey in 1998 where he polled the most Brownlow votes ever.

happy?

not saying Kouts wasn't the best in 2000, I think he was, it's just i don't think it was the best season by any player ever, which some of your fellow Carlton supporters do.:thumbsu:

Hird, simply because he personified how unbelieveably dominant the Bombers were. Not only that...He wasn't a one hit wonder, he's been a consistent quality player for the Dons moreso than Kouta has been for the Blues.

But yes, I voted Woey cause I'm biased

By that logic you have to say Woewodin was the best in 2000. If Harvey's 1998 season is proven to be the best ever by his record number of votes, then Woewodin would have to be the best in 2000, given he got the highest number of votes.

If Kouta was the best in 2000, as you agree, then you are saying the umpires got it wrong, which could very easily be extended to Harvey in 1998.

If we're talking best player in a year then it's best to leave the Brownlow out of it. It has very little to do with who the best player was aver the course of the season.

actually i think the Brownlow has a very big part in saying who the best player was over the course of the season. I also think Libba was the worst player to ever recieve the award followed by Woewodin.

why can't i believe they got it wrong with Woewodin and not Harvey?

You can, but you said Harvey's 32 votes in 1998 proves he was the most dominant player ever in a season. This suggests that the Brownlow is they key, if not the perfect, indicator of who is the best player in a season and across seasons.

By saying they get it right sometimes and get it wrong others you are essentially saying 'i think Harvey's 1998 was the best season by a player ever, and the umpires, who do get it wrong, seem to agree'. As such 32 votes is far from proof of anything.
