I would be happy as long as whoever gets it has a long and good career at Essendon. But if Reimers gets it I might have to get a number 5 on my jumper, something ive never had the inclination to do.
I'd want them to make sure he was a gun, and a keeper, otherwise rest it for a year and let someone prove their worth.

Yep, I've said before that there is no way the no. 5 jumper will be on the field next year unless James Hird is wearing it.
The Daniher family has an affinity with No 5 ...Give it to Darcy
that's my thoughts kind of
If we give it to Darcy, then Tom Hird can have it after him.
That way, the number 5 would go from Daniher to Hird to Daniher to Hird.

IMO No greater way to honor him than making it the captains number like what Port do now and Collingwood use to do with the number 1. I'd love to see it happen but it won't

I never said that. I just said that I never had the inclination to have Hird's number on my jumper. I reckon he's a great player and all... I've just never really liked him. Nothing personal, I just dont tend to like things that are really popular. Eg when everyone else had Nintendo as kids, I had to be different and get Sega.... really stupid now that I think of it.yeah Reimers > Hird

Winderlich is making 8 all his own - a good number with a rich heritage. Why would he change? Why would it make sense to give it to an established player?

Totally agree with you...dont give it to the unproven...the person who gets this jumper has to really earn it over 1 to maybe two seasons....they did it with timmy watsons 32 and gave it to blumfield and even thou he was good at times ..not worthy of the number at the end of the day...
