it's a strange game where you can use a 1st round pick on a guy, spend 3 years developing them, and only get a 3rd round pick for em. you'd think their market value increases. but i guess it's just compensation for losing a player. just put it down to another wasted 1st round pick for us

Or a pick upgrade. 39 for 29 perhaps?

From reports GWS are only going to use 3 picks. 1, 2 & 14. Therefore unless they are going to get other players through trading, 29 to them is the same as pick 100. Its a dead pick. Plus it is actually what lamb would be worth I reckon.

If we get 29 for Lamb which is about right given he has only played 12 senior games and keep Everitt, it hasnt worked out that bad

I would be happy

In: Franklin, pick 44, pick 35, pick 29
Out: White, Lamb, Mumford

Thats a win in my books. As long as Everitt stays with our retirements and some depth we have lost.

Can't see them upgrading their offer from 48 to 29, although it depends on how much they need their PSD pick.

If they are not using 29 though, whats the point of keeping it? that is where I am getting from. If they draft 4 people, they wont part with it but, with a shallow draft and the ins they have had I personally cant see them using 4 picks when they have 3 in the top 20.

They don't have 48 anymore but still might get 41 for Bruce
Yes, but regardless, it's a big upgrade, just simply on the value of the pick on the open market. And after what we got for Mummy, 29 would make them look a bit weak. Although maybe they owe us?

Might give us 29 if there not going to use it , for the sake of future trades but will see

29 might work for Lamb and Everitt or Lamb + 35, but I doubt we'd get 29 for Lamb, regardless of what they were planning to do with it.

Compensation picks are a joke and wont be around next year I hope.

Highly mistaken on that point mate don't expect Carlton to offer us anything of worth for Everitt, Malthouse was about to knock himself out when we signed Franklin.

Carlton probably won't but Everitt is of more value to GWS, so maybe a package deal with Lamb might bring a pick of value to the Swans.

Ah well, we got more out of him than many of our recent early picks...

RAGE!!!

Hopefully we can resign Lamb with a little more cash with Everitt gone and Armstrong going, unless we don't rate him that highly. He's no match winner to me. Would have been good to exchange picks with GWS even if it was only a few spots up. We have 5 picks essentially at or about in the top 50, so its not all bad.

While Jed Lamb was not traded to the Giants, the club has confirmed it will select the young Swan with the first pick of the NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft
And so it gives birth to a rivaly, the first act of bastedry has occurred. From here on in gloves are off GWS. I hope we grind you into the dust for the next 20 years.
