A COMEBACK of a different kind was stalled when Matt Lappin, the former Carlton forward, was forced to delay his return to country footy because of his commitments as the Blues' forwards coach. Lappin hasn't played country footy since turning out for Chiltern as a schoolboy. Last Saturday he was all set to pull on the boots for Wangaratta, which is coached by his brother, Jason, when Carlton decided he'd better watch the Brisbane Lions at the Docklands. Wangaratta overcame Matt Lappin's absence to defeat Myrtleford by 239 points, 38.26 (254) to 2.3 (15), with half-forward Luke Mullins (three games with Collingwood) kicking eight goals. Ex-Carlton midfielder Jon McCormick had 57 disposals, while another former Blues midfielder, Jesse Smith, had 32 touches before going off injured late in the second quarter. Matt Lappin is scheduled to make his debut for Wangaratta against Wodonga on June 13, when Carlton is having a week off with the split round.
good to see matty getting back on the field, but FMD look at those stats. 57 touches and 32 before half time! why couldnt they do that for us?

.....not quite the pressure on his disposal at that level, but his running capacity sees him as a standout.
