whos the better onballer?
averages are for 09.
simpson.
disposals ave, 21.26
goals, 15
tack, 82

leon.
disposals ave, 20.48
goals 35
tack 96

you may say leon was used more up fwd, but how do you explain the same amount of stats, leons a much better player up fwd or on the ball IMO, in fact id go as far to say leons stats stand up pretty well against any of the carlton midfield, remembering his disposal is tip top, not bad considering he isnt in our best 4 mids, and yes i know he went awall during the finals but that shouldnt bother carlton fans.

Voted Simpson because it is another "How good are Collingwood?" poll.

Seriously Hawks supporters are pretty bad but this summer Collingwood have been terrible.

the poll was made for our good friend black flag, who thinks no collingwood player is good enough to make the blues 22.

I never said that.

Leon's best is better, but just doesn't do it as consistently as Simmo... so I'll say Kade.

Kade is a consistent hard runner as well as a team leader. Leon fades in and out.

If you want to win finals, you don't want to have Downhill Davis in your side ...

Having said that, he is probably a better player overall then Simmo, but I refuse to vote on this poll :)

What's with these Carlton folk trying to compate their middle-of the-road players to established guns at Collingwood?

Different story if we are comparing Judd to say a Davis/Harry O but players such as Kade Simpson and Paul Bower just simply don't cut it.

if i was to be unbiased,( which is terribly hard mind you).
I'd definitely say Davis IF he played more outside - like simpson does, those stats show that if Davis/Malthouse allowed him to run on a wing he could play outside and wreak havoc on oppostion with his flair and pace, i see davis as more of an inside player hes a freakshow when it comes to a contest, however in that respect Simpsons run and carry game itself is very good, He's very consistent, (next year if he steps up again may hear his consistency rival Corey enright- Both shadows at theyre club but are integral parts to theyre team however Enright is obviously more accomplished)
The AFL game for the year i saw (Carlton Vs Sydney @ Etihad) was very tight but simpsons run and carry was the real gamebreaker between the two sides, i think he runs hard, gets some touches and hes pretty good in alot of areas but you'd have him as a B+ player cause he's probably not in the elite tier of what he does whereas Davis would get an A for what he does in comparison to other small fwds.

Davis for me, not by much, Simpsons a top player and has shone for Carlton when needed.

Davis - I always get the feeling when ever the ball is in his hands something freakish will happen. 90% of the time it does happen.

Its hard to compare inside and outside players but

I reckon Davis for his spark, freakish ability and ball skills

And the other 10% of the time?
Well... That's the 10% that matters, when the game is on the line. Kade Simpson has never let the team down when the game is there to be won. The Port in Port 'comeback' game is testament to this. Not to mention the Brisbane games in the past two years, where he never lied down!

However, for outright skill and overall output (perhaps not consistency) you cannot pass on Leon.
