Lewis Taylor vs Marcus Bontempelli

Bonts has been great over the two weeks. Very impressive. Taylor hasn't been no mug either, especially playing in such a misfiring team. He hasn't been getting any real midfield time as well, so I'd call his numbers at the very least solid.

Overall, bonts has been great in the two games, but I'd still take the rising star winner from last year

Also anyone see Taylor's goal on the weekend? Taking a set shot 40 meters out and gets blocked by the man on the mark, then gets it back and swings around on his left and nails it, I thought it was pretty silky anyway

Does the Bont still remind you of Jarrad Brennan? However many seasons, across two clubs, doubt Brennan would have laid 40 tackles even if you included ones at training.

For the Bont to be beating a tag (round one) and then going head to head and at least breaking even with Dustin Martin (they seemed opposed to eachother for large periods) is fantastic

No, I think he could be the new Adam Goodes He has been very impressive! I'd love for him to play more time up forward tbh, i think he could be fantastic up there. In saying that, two weeks isn't a season. So the bar has been set, let's see how he goes for a longer period.

Bont took a ripping contested mark in the forwardline against Collingwood in the NAB cup too. Would like to see that in the real stuff but so far he's just been doing so damn well in the midfield to take him out.

We haven't needed to change things up much so far so I'd imagine when we have the situation ahead of us where it is required it will happen.

It's not really. It was an interesting discussion point last year when talking about the Rising Star, but they are very different players on different trajectories.

One was taken at 4 in the draft and looks like he could become one of the best in the comp. The other was a pick 28 that his club love and was an absolute steal there but he is not likely to be a better player than Bonts. Of course Brisbane fans are not going to want to get rid of Taylor but in reality if it came to a choice of course you would take Bonts

Nope. Bolton holds the record at 19 tackles. A bunch of players have had 15 or 16 tackles in one game including Brennan.

Pretty much this.

Debate centered around the Rising Star award. Taylor deserved it, for sure. Going forward, Bontempelli looks ridiculously good, but it doesn't take away from the consistency of Taylor's first year or his value to the Lions.

Now, you'd have to say Bontempelli. It's not looking close either. Which is no slight on Lewis Taylor. Bontempelli is going to become the best player in the competition one day.

If I could change my vote I would, Bontempelli has shown quite a bit. Size matters and being that mobile he will become a top 5 player in a few years

Not really, a couple get agitated (and you can tell by the way they type they're probably under 15 years old) the rest couldn't give a **** what people say about Bonts because well, theres nothing you can do to take this away from us. He's ours
