Taylor and Stokes

It would appear that these guys were going to be given the chop early on. They were selected for 1 match each this season when neither of them were ready.

My thoughts...

Now this may not be politically correct but why the F___ are we keeping Travis Tuck?.....

Trav is a genuine charity case and I have no problem keeping a rookie spot for him. It does not hurt helping out a guy who is struggling.

A fit TT is better than any of those guys delisted. If we can get him fit, he is in out best 25. We have stuff all depth he may be very useful.

I think TT might bounce back hard. The slate is clean, everything is in the open, and providing he's fit, he might just start repaying the faith.

I do hope you are right about that. He has potential if only he can get his body and head right and put it all together.

If we get injuries to players in our best 22, who is gonna cover for them? well for starters we have no depth anymore! Taylor Skipper Dowler Muston Tuck Hooper JKT Peterson Moss Stokes were all depth players, i dont think that Breust Lisle Sheils Schoenmakers Milne Savage are ready yet, yes theyll show potential at some stage, but there all about 1-2 years away from becoming good players, also we dont have a small forward, Peterson Hooper Stokes Moss are GONE! if Cyril gets injured, goodbye 2011, the only good thing about those delistings is that it gives a chance for some players 2 cement a spot in the best 22 :thumbsu: Ladson Morton Suckling even Breust will be playing for their careers next season, id like 2 see us draft M.Sewell C.Pederson & E.Curnow just 2 cover the loss of those players, any way good luck hawks! :)

Still trying to figure out the logic behind turning over so many players. (Skipper in particular is a troublesome one.) Surely it says something about our poor recruiting and/or player development. Shouldn't someone at the club be held accountable for almost 30% of our list considered failures in a single season? Additionally, are we conceding that our premiership window is closed and we are back in a rebuilding phase again? If that's the case then recruiting Burgoyne, Hooper and Gibson last year doesn't make sense. Nor does getting Hale who will be 27. Looking from the outside I see a repeat of McGlynn and Kennedy. I'm having visions already of Muston slotting into the St.Kilda or Sydney senior team.

Clarkson and co seem to have lost their way. When he came to the club his core strategy was clear: select the best available young talent. With the culling to the list that just happened it's unclear as to how internally our list is perceived and what our future direction will be. My confidence level after two ordinary seasons is plummeting fast.

Understand your concerns BL, but we have to prove the second string players in waves the first wave has gone past, the second one is coming and these guy's will get the same chance to prove themselves (good luck to them, I reckon our youngsters are better than the ones delisted)

as for Laddo (we know his year was crap, attitude was his downfall "you can't dine out on 2008 forever)....Morts, obviously was kept for his tank but last roll of the dice for him, no doubt.....Suckling, well seems to have something but also appears to lack evasive skill, again like Morts...so you are 100% right there

I am not so sure about your depth playesr suggested, though I would of thought the club's diligence would cover there recruitment..:thumbsu:

Guys

Some of you need to get a grip. There is no use bleating about the loss of any of those who were delisted.

Every year we are required to delist up to 5 players, and need to to keep a healthy turnover and get new blood into the fold.

This year we delisted 5 from the senior list, one of which is likely to return to the rookie list. None of them, however, are likely to get a gig in our next premiership side and are a fair way off our best 25.

As for the rookies, unless they are up and coming stars, why should we keep them. Skipper is a journeyman at best. Sure, he did well for us this year, but he is neither a true ruck nor a true KP. So should we keep him just because he is a great guy?

We kept the best and got rid of those we needed to. As for depth, there are still 30+ players on the senior list, representing the best 30+ we had. So what is the problem here?

Everyone cries out for a new gun from the draft. Well, we ain't gonna get one if we continue to hand on to list cloggers.

Well done, Hawks, for making the hard decisions.

Its the new style of list management. Give mature players an opportunity and turn them over. We picked up Stratton, JKT and Skip. One makes it, two dont. Thats a win. Bring in the next batch. Nobody gets more than one year to perform.

Nobody gets more than one year to perform!!!!! HAA
Travis Tuck - five years twenty games.
I'm with you Buddybo23, its all very well saying this is the way it is and there's no point whinging about delisted players but go back to the mid part of the season when we were crap and read the whinging then. How many more years are we going to spend REbuilding. The positive thing is we do have quie a few draft picks.

Someone predicted it earlier, Moss given permission to train with Sydney

You'll probably transform him into Mark Le Cras too.

or Gary Moss.

I think we all knew that Kennedy was on the up and Mcglynn is goer. No suprises from those two and Moss will be the same as he was with us,
good with the ball, just lacking a few tricks.

Yeah I can't say I'm too excited about the prospect

The article I saw said that he isnt being considered for the ND, but rather PSD or rookie spot

I like the way he goes about it and he would have been a good AFL player 20 years ago but I just can't see a spot for him in our best 22

Well said Kip. Guys like Shiels, Schoey, Max, Lisle, Savage, Milne, etc have more to offer than the guys delisted.

We've helped our Ruck structure in getting Hale and traded (for next to nothing) Cheney, who is physically ready and played very good footy at VFL level.

So if we bring in Bruce for a late pick and grab Spangher in the pre season draft, we still have decent depth.

At the same time we're bringing in some young talent (4 picks, as Bruce may be used for late pick) in the national draft and have the Rookie draft/kids developing.

Good balance between rotating your list to bring in fresh talent and adding back some experience/depth which you need over the season. A lot of thought has gone into getting the right balance imo.

I will be happy if we select Tucky on the Rookie list. I think the club can help him not only recover (regarding personal issues) but help him get his footy career back on track.

It's a great opportunity for Travis to realize how easy it is to lose something precious. Travis can play good footy. Let's give him a chance to prove himself, as I believe he could come back a more focused, fit and better player out of all this.

I was always a fan of Moss. He was easily in our best 22 when he played the first 9 games in 2009. Unfortunatley he did his knee and never recaptured that form in 2010. I'm sure after a strong pre-season and a new club he will become a good player. For what it's worth in 2009 i rated him a far better prospect than Ben McGlynn.
