Why is it only ever good players (Nathan Krakouer excepted) who want out? Why do we never hear about how Tom Logan and Matt Thomas want to leave? :(

Because these guys know they would not get an AFL game elsewhere so they stay put

Brett Ebert is a poor man's Monfries .

I'm not the president of the monfries fan club i just think we should be fair...

If its GWS we would either get a pack after our first rounder (pick 8) or an end of first rounder. Looking at the phantom drafts board it looks like GWS have activated a compo pick (from Adelaide) at pick 22 currently, and Brisbane has a pick at 23. Somehow we would end up in this mix. I think our year this year is worse than either Brisbanes or Adelaides compo pick years so would that put us at pick 22 ?
Haven't the AFL come out and said that the compo for FA wont be near what it was forthe GWS and GC poaching? Makes sense because you dont want the early rounds of the draft being compromised each year because of players moving clubs. FA is only really there to help players move freely between clubs.

So at a guess and if the rumours are true we will lose Chaplin and Pearce we will probably get Monfries and a pick at the start of the 2nd or 3rd round in return.

Whatever happens, if what has been posted re Pearce and Monfries is true we have f***ed that up massively.

If we offer Monfries a 4 yr contract, I will not be renewing my membership :( You would only entertain offering a 4yr contract to a gun midfielder or key position player to build you team around them. Not to some forward pocket scrubber!!

Chappy is gone. He has already been telling his friends (which includes some people I know), that he is leaving. No great loss there. He has gone backwards over the last 2 years and I am fed up with his terrible skills and poor decision making. Richmond can have him!!!

OK, he's a rich man's Brett Ebert then. Still don't think he'd add much to the side.

personally I think monfies can definitely bring something to our side.

Brad Eberts stats last year would have looked equally unflattering. However he was put into a new team with a greater opportunity and see what happened?

Also we are all complaining about the development of some of our young guys, I think its important we get some of these guys in who have done the base development at another club. You heard all pre-season how McCarthy and Brad Ebert brought a new level to the training track - getting more outside influences in the coaching and playing group can only be a good thing.

i understand the sentiment, but hate reading posts like this. Stick with your team through thick or thin or just become a crowbot fan IMO

His ground-level attack on the ball outstrips Brett to the point where Megahead looks like Robbie Williams in Rock DJ.

Monfries is a poor man's Brett Ebert. If we must have a small forward who doesn't crumb on our list I'd rather keep the one we already have.

If they were both playing deep as undersized key forwards, Ebert is far superior.

Monfries has far more to offer up the ground though. If he can play that high half forward role that Brett should've always played, he'll be of some value as he does have some class, and he can finish.

Jolly has walked out on the Suns and wants to be traded back to SA. Are we interested?

I wouldn't mind Jolly. He uses the ball quite well, just needs to work harder on and off field, a change of club might do him a world of good.

Not sure how trading will work, as i'd imagine we wouldn't part with more then a third round pick, which the suns wont use anyway.

I don't think anyone really has a problem with Monfries coming on to the list... What people are spewing about is the story that he has a 4 year contract in front of him.... 2 years welcome aboard

not only the 4 year deal thing with Monfries, it could reali stuff us up from getting decent compo from Chaplin....

Imagine, we loose chaplin, bring in Monfries and get a 3rd rounder? win? i dont think so.....

Maybe we won't have to trade for him at all. Should be able to get him for a token pick if anything.

If they delist him straight away we can free agent him and they get nothing, however that would not necessarily be in our best interest if we lose one or more free agents... so maybe a very late pick or psd is better option if he names sa as his destination.

Monfries would be great for us tbh. An experienced crumbing forward that we just don't have. Would definitely take him.

Jolly too, providing we don't lose too much, which I don't think we will.

I know Coad has injury woe's but didn't he play the last couple of games? Would he be worth a gable along with Jolly?
