The Adelaide Football Club would like to thank Harry Dear, Jackson Edwards and Ben Jarman for their dedication and commitment to the Crows.

The trio was told on Tuesday afternoon their contracts would not be renewed.

Crows Head of Football Brett Burton praised the players for their contribution to the Club.

“It’s always a difficult time of the year in the AFL industry,” Burton said.

“Harry, Jackson and Ben are all quality young men and their commitment during their time at the Club has been first-class.

“On behalf of everyone at the Adelaide Football Club, we wish them all the best in the future.

“They will always be part of the Crows family.”

Dear was recruited with pick No. 58 in the 2014 AFL National Draft and played 50 SANFL games across his four seasons at the Club.

Jarman and Edwards were both father-son selections for the Crows, taken in the 2016 and 2017 rookie drafts respectively.

Their departures follow the retirements of Sam Gibson and Curtly Hampton, bringing the Club’s number of list changes to five at this stage.

The Club will be making no further list changes until after the upcoming AFL trade period.

Reckon he carves out a good career at Glenelg though, hes got talent.

Sometimes that's all it takes to know a guy won't make it. Ignore his name and there's plenty of kids let go after one year.

It may also be a sign we see more talented players being available to us in the draft this year.

If they are going to use someone as defensive cover, I'd rather it be Otten than Dear. Would have been good to see what Dear could have achieved in our forward line but I guess just didn't bang against the door loudly enough

Disappointed in the decision to cut Jackson. Thought he was tracking well.

Surprised that Edwards didn’t get another year as I thought he showed some good signs early in the season before getting injured.

I know it’ll never happen, but it’d be great if we could offer players like Jarman & Edwards spots in our top up players list, they’re at least a step up from what we currently use and keeps them in the frame for a second chance at AFL level.

No doubt port will sign him as DFA just to spite us.

Edwards could be the victim of a particularly strong draft with plenty of quality SA lads. We have wanted the club to be ruthless, so it shouldn't matter what a players last name is. If our recruiting team feel they can fill those spots with better prospects then it has to be done.

Remember when Ben Jarman asked Eddie Betts when he would retire so that he could take his spot in our frwd 50?

Tbf if his name wasn't Jarman he wouldn't be on an afl list. Edwards is a weird one, maybe the edwards family thought he would develop better at glenelg.

I can't believe we've delisted both Jarman and Edwards. Both seemed to be getting consistant numbers in the SANFL, Jars seemed to have his name in the best 5 every other week. Surely the both could have got another year on the rookie list? Really suprising. I bet they both end up on lists within a year or so.
