If we get Grundy, cheaply in terms of picks (don't care what we pay him), that's a great gap filler for a year or two until Visentini is fully ready. I'd then delist Lycett and hold onto Hayes as the last backup. No reason Hayes can't be our version of Strachan from the Crows just there in case of emergency.

I'm not to sold on the key backs. From my perspective I'd be most keen on McKay because he's a FA. Second would be BZT provided he comes cheaply as a 2nd-3rd rounder. Then lastly I'd look at Rat, he's not very good, he takes marks and that's it. I wouldn't cough up more than a 2nd-3rd for him and if they want more I'd walk away.

1 key back, 1 ruck, is a good effort in trade period. Don't go crazy at the delist table and just take a couple kids and lock in with what we have.

If we can get the two KPDs and assuming we say goodbye to Clurey. A KPD group of:

AA, Rat, Zerk, Mckenzie, McCallum, Marshall looks pretty good

Seriously though how exactly are we planning to get in Rat, BZT and Grundy with everyone re-signed?

Cripps will need to be a miracle worker.
Easy fix, just don't get BZT.

And place a trade value on Lord?
At this stage? Something late 2nd round at best. More likely third round. I don't hate him or anything, but as a Tall forward he's about 5th in the pecking order at the moment. He has got games on the back of injury, nothing more. He's done okay, he's seems to have good aggression and might become a very good player, but there is no guarantee of that at the moment. Always saw him as a flight risk, and I reckon he'd be more than open to a trade back to Malbun/Geelong if it was presented to him. Thus to say he's untradeable is a fair stretch.

Think Zerk reads as like for like for Harrison Petty? Just looking at stats and output [emoji848]

That would be ok.

Not a bad comparison. Though Petty has had the advantage of playing in a competent well-organised defence, and in a team that runs both ways. Maybe it’s wrong to assume that BZT would do better if he had the same, but probably worth a try.

Essendon just delisted Cian McBride an Irish recruit 22 year KPD 197cm, 95 kg. He's been in the system for 4 years playing as a defender in the VFL.
Wont cost us anything relatively unknown but he just needs to play a role our defence.
Fits well with our team age profile and can still improve
An alternative option

Ratugolea with barely a years worth playing as a defender and BZT are average to below average players that require us to give up draft picks that we could use on a "Max Gawn" type Ruckmen in Taylor Goad (207cm) with our pick 37

Do you honestly believe that Hinkley will play all three of Alir rat and zerk?

I’m not talking about round 1, I’m talking 5/10 games down the track. 20 games , next year? When he’s had an excuse to drop 1?

Based on evidence I reckon it’s extremely unlikely.

Yeah I’m not sure of lords trade value, and I question his ability to ever be a high end kf, but decent serviceable kfs are still extremely hard to come across.

And several vic clubs would be right into lord. Essendon are desperate for a player like him.

Didn't Lord resign with us. Also hearing Dixon getting 1 yr
If Lord had kicked straight this season would people be happy to trade him I doubt it.
Get him kicking straight and tell him it's his job to keep Dixon out of the side

I wouldn't be trading Lord and the way Hinkley talked him up in the press conference, can't see Port letting him go.

Why would we give up Lord. Charlie is well past his use by date and Marshall keeps looking like he is going to be one of the gun forwards of the comp, but still has yet to deliver. And at 25 (at season's end) , unless he is going to do something very special this final series, he's not the guy to build a forward line around.

Yes. And if not, we have outstanding depth. Remembering Jonas isnt there to play taller anymore

I'd also add that playing both Rat and Zerk allows AA some space to play his more natural game. To me, if we are to win a premiership, that is the sort of structure that could win one
