I'd be pissed if we don't throw up an offer for Maynard tbh.

He's exactly the player the fans have been demanding. He's an ultimate upgrade on Jones.
I think there was interest from our end; I remember Tom Morris or the like tweeted that we had interest in him.

Chewy316 Do you know if we put a contract to Maynard?

We had interest but the only two offers he seriously considered were Collingwood and North Melbourne.

So, put up an offer. Do it anyway.
What does this achieve from a list management sense? He's on a 4 year deal at 800k a year. So we would need to make it a 5 year deal at $1m a year to get him out of there.

Then there's the case of whether its actually helping us in our long-term vision. Carr is going to take a couple of years at least (and I am likely being generous) before we become genuine flag contenders. And in that time Maynard turns 30 and would've lost heavy draft capital (at least a first rounder given the contract we'd be offering him) to get him.

Would love Maynard at Port but totally agree with you Addy.

Think its a completely different case if he was a UFA and we got him with no loss of capital. My only view is that he's not worth trading at this given time. If you asked me two years ago I'd have given you a very different answer because we were competing at the top

All they have to do is get the boys like Jones to just fire up more and throw their bodies around. Instead of hugging and moping. Heck Logan Evans gives a bit but he needs to whack on more muscle. Don't need Maynard. Plenty of players there that can do it and be leaders its just on them to step up and do it. example being SPP

Probably in the minority here but I don't want Zac Bailey if it involves trading for him while under contract. Next year as a free agent, sure, why not.

He’s not depth, he’s been a regular part of the team in the Hinkley era.
His form last year was shocking and would have definitely been dropped if we had any depth.
I’m just putting it out there that I don’t see him as part of our next premiership push.
Now would be the perfect time to trade him out while he’s still worth something.
Knowing how shit the club has become I expect us to keep him and then realize in a couple of years it’s time to move him on when he’s worth fk all.
Duh!

If he is NOT in your best-22 going forward ... then he is precisely that in your summation - depth!

Make up your mind!

Complaining that Port have no depth, then saying to get rid of a player like Drew, who is a solid, team contributor, and would make a perfect depth player, then getting some random kid way up in the draft in return is some dumb reasoning!

Around 60% of the team had a bad year in 2025, hey lets get rid of them all!

I’d go Zac. I don’t think his trade value is much different to Dunkley. Dunkley went to Brisbane for Pick 21, Future 1st and 2nd for a Top 4 finisher.

Could almost go our 2nd (24) and swap our future 1st with Brisbane’s future 1st + steak knives.

Of course it all depends on the AFLs push to change the rules as to what we can and can’t do.

McCreery not keen on coming back to Adelaide.

Wouldn't say you can put a line through it just yet, but it's pretty close to that.
Seen a couple of people mention McCreery, so might as well bump this comment.

Me too but the trouble is they all want Butters and after seeing how we bent over in the Houston deal, we will be treated as a club the gives in when pushed.
Considering the two bald headed dudes are no longer there, I doubt Carr would accept anything under as.

I think we should look at Brayden Cook. Decent player who is a beautiful kick of the footy. Plays on the wing, but can't get a spot behind Cumming and Curtin. Great size at 191cm, only 23 and could easily slot into our 22 and take one of the wing spots.

I'm all for this. Reckon he would be a great get

Really we need Butters to stay but if we are offered his REAL value we would have to consider it.
We have no idea at this point where Zac wants to be beyond 2026.
No one could afford his real value.
He would be a min 3 first rounders.

There best 22, depth, delist, trade.
My opinion is trade while he’s still worth something.
We have a habit of holding players too long and trade when there worth bugger all.
If he could net is a second round pick we might be addle to improve our best 22 playing list.

I feel like the whole list management strategy for the club hangs on whether Butters stays or goes.

Tell me a flag winning club, that has lost their best player? And you can’t count Ablett and Franklin, cause their lists and draft capital were full of cheap father-son guns or priority picks.

I dont think the club should get rid of Butters at all this off season. It’s a crap draft. His value won’t change next season at all, we get an extra year of quality. We can match any RFA offers, and force a trade. Because even if we finish 9-13 again, he is worth more than the Free agency compo.

Hampering another club, by taking all of their draft capital and making them pay, instead of getting Zak for free, is pretty important. Zak catapults a Top6 team to being a premiership team. We can’t just give that away.

But in saying all of that, the hope of keeping him, like Papley ending up staying at Sydney is worth not trading him this season.

I would hope if he left JHF would.lift a gear and drives the midfield.going forward, with Bergman.

We would get quality players or picks in exchange plus massive salary space.

We can live.in fear of what may be or look at it as opportunity Grows. JUDD leaving West Coast didn't kill them.andnit didn't help Carlton

This is what we should've been doing with Dan Houston. Especially once Collingwood became his preferred option.

Trading away our best player on a whim that he might leave in the future would be pretty bad list management IMO.

That's without factoring in the quality of the draft.
