Ruckmen have always been allowed to jump, the new rules aren’t moving the needle that much. They only impact a handful of rucks at centre bounce. And most of them will adapt and remain in the game.

How so?
Have you actually looked through the State Leagues and other lower leagues as to what AFL ready rucks are available that fit the common thought requirements of athleticism and a big leap?

Looks to be very skinny pickings when it comes to athletic high leaping ruckmen that would be AFL competitive let alone capable of leading an AFL club's ruck division.
I think look at the disruption the rucks have had in the AFL this year for our club and about 2-3 others, its not hard to project this across all state leagues and possibly some will be recruiting basketballers for instant impact, somebody might get plucked from amatuers, Ireland, anything is possible.

The very fact that it's slim pickings means the hunt is on across all leagues, they will get creative.

Can the Crows finally get Tom Powell back home at the end of the year? He’s got some quality and hasn’t even been allowed to fully flourish at North, showed some of his quality again today. Has also cleaned up his disposal a fair bit in the last 12 months and is still an absolute ball magnet even when paying a periphery role…

Mentioned back last year if they wanted midfield talent especially after missing out on NWM to get him back, really should’ve gone hard and got him at the end of last year with him consistently stuck behind others in North’s midfield.

Have mentioned before the family ties to some influential people at the Crows and should be one of the main targets to trade in at the end of the year, just hope he doesn’t breakout too much so the cost blows out.
Would think those family ties would be tied with a very flimsy bit of wet cotton currently and sadly.

Everyone's favorite halfback signs for another year

WTF! Why? We haven't played as single game this year and we extend? WHY?
It's not like any other team is going to try and steal him.
What if we get 4 weeks in and even the coaches realise he is cooked?

Utter stupidity.

All I can think is they want to smooth his salary over 27 and 28, so we have more cap space next year for a FA.

If we said to him 26 is your last year (say on 800k duento his long term contract), or take 500k this year and next, so we can free up 300k next year

There was another option in which his impact on the 2027 salary cap would’ve been zero.

‘Smoothing’ this year’s salary into 2028 reduces the cap space available for a FA. You want to be bringing payments forward to create future cap space.

Toby Murray was drafted in the '24 mid season rookie draft, so this year is his 3rd season on the rookie list, he is already contracted for '27.

Does this mean he needs to be upgraded this year?

I have a feeling the half year after being selected in the MSD don’t count as one of the three allowed on the rookie list.

Cal Twomey on Zac Bailey,

-Brisbane offering 6 years worth $6.5 million

-Adelaide offering 7 years, heading towards $10 million'

-Plenty of other offers

Unlikely, unless there was a previously unknown trigger (which is possible, noting we resigned in 2021) in Laird's contract. Equally, we also have a fair bit of cap space freeing up as Jones and Butts are listed as RFAs and both would be unlikely to receive a pay rise (or a contract, in Jones's case).

Does anyone know what team Zac Bailey followed in the AFL?
