Meek extends with Freo

Lloyd Meek has signed a deal with Fremantle which will see the emerging ruckman at the Club until at least the end of the 2023 season.

That's disappointing, Rucks don't usually hit their straps for years. Has been a good backup for Freo I was hoping we would re-sign him.

Guess we will have to draft one or two now.

I didnt expect him to play AFL games in 2018. He should of got a game in 2019 when Ross Lyon was sacked late in the season. In 2020, he should of got a game or 2 but injuries prevented that.

A solid back up ruck getting 15-20 hitouts a game.

Better suited to AFL I’d argue. Nads is an immobile lump. Meek’s best attribute is his follow up and ground ball work. I’d definitely take Meek over Nads

English is a very average number 1 ruck. Great utility/forward/ruck but we desperately need a number 1.

Lloyd is only 23, its not like he is a journeyman in his late 20s.

Most rucks take time to develop and most Freo fans would agree there is a bit of improvement in him. He will eventually leave Freo to get out of Darcy's shadow IMHO. If not now, then in a couple of years time.
