Re: Questions to be answered on Lovett leaving

So many questions yet so few answers. A lot of people bagging him here for wanting 500k yet it doesn't look to be the case.

A lot of people bagging him for playing poorly yet he carried an injury and was pretty much gone from the club.

A lot of rumours about players not speaking to him yet he goes out and socialises with them?

More internet fud from superheros who think they know more than anyone else but are sprouting the same rumours you hear from any goose.

Exactly , surely we supporters/members have a right to the story or real reason why we've let one of our most electrifying player go.

Re: Questions to be answered on Lovett leaving

carrying an injury...watson carried ankle issues and at least had a dip. lovetts main injury is his heart - he doesn't put in and is not a team player.

Rubbish, more than put in first 14-15 weeks.

p.s why have all these bloody threads been merged. Just confuses everything. Same subject different topics. What's next, merge all the Essendon threads into one!! sheesh!!

Yeah we all agree Lovett was a good player for us, good not great! He finished 11th in our b&f - great players don't finish outside the top 5 when they've played a whole season. We got pretty much the right price for Lovett, he was a rookie elevation player with a history off field problems. So for him we need to take a gamble, to a certain extent, on a kid, a kid the Essendon football club can shape attitudenly and to best fit our structure.

So stop whinging, i'm happy he's out of the club! We can now continue to build our really proffesional club and quit holding our breath everytime Lovetts name hits the headlines!

So annoyed we let St.Kilda have Lovett for pick 16. We should have just given him to them. Wouldn't have been much different.

Yeah I know what you mean. Surely they should have given us Riewoldt and either Hayes or Dal Santo.

That's not what I'm saying. I think we should have traded him for at least a fringe player, Xavier Clarke for example, plus a draft pick then at least we got something for him. Where's the guarantee that number 16 is not going to be a dud. Who was the last #16 pick to become a gun? Most of them have been duds.

I can give you a guarantee that X Clarke would have still been a dud.

Guess you think i am some sort of internet bozo who makes stuff up then :D
I will tel you again and you can take it or leave it.
He was given the flick because of his piss poor efforts over the last 5 or 6 rounds, his "me" or "i am the game plan " attitude and the fact that none of his team mates really had any time for him including the other aboriginal boys.
Lets fact it he dead set dogged it after half time in the Hawthorn game. Pulled out of several contests.

I found it rather amusing that some of the comments he first make after the trade where "i am the missing link in St.Kilda's premiership picture."
Well done Andy you have just left a club who wanted you to pull your head in and play team footy and the first comment you make is a "its all about me" special.

The bloke is a nob and he has a lot of work to do as far as fitting into the Saints game plan. permiership sides have players who run both ways and are not selective about what they want to do on the field.

Good post. If he keeps up the attitude that you mention, I doubt he'll get any game time at all. When you have lost a GF that you knew you could win, its just about as hungry as a team could get...so I cant imagine anyone putting up with his antics.

I pose a question.

Lovett's contract negotiations broke down in July - which is about the time that his form dipped alarmingly.

Is there a cause and effect relationship.

So the deal in plain terms ended up being Lovett and Nash for Wiliiams , pick 25 and pick 33. Not a bad result.

Good to have you back ant. Cant wait for the draft player profiles in a few weeks time :)

As for this trade i think it was also a success. Nash was not going to contribute a lot more to EFC. Either delisted or play only when a lot of injuries IMO.

Ive tended to view it as Lovett for Williams pick 24 and 33 seems like a great deal to me considering he was PSD bound if we couldnt trade
