Geelong would target this year i'd think- we had him training with us in his draft year and were wanting to rookie him but WB had the rookie pick one pick before us. And front half smalls is an area we need to improve.
Didn't you just draft his clone? Gryan Miers

On the North board there's lots of virtual raised eyebrows and nudge nudge wink wink stuff when his name is mentioned, generally about drug use.

Anyone know more?

Would you give up your 1st round pick and potentially 600-700k? I would think that is what the Dogs would want and what he would be looking at.

At 25 he will be looking to get paid well in his prime years. This is now his best chance.

I think we would go FA only not trade but i doubt WB would match an offer anyway i reckon they'd just take the compo pick
I'd pay 6-700 but other clubs would offer more i think so he wouldn’t choose Geelong if it's about money.

He's worth what a club is willing to pay him. That's the bottom line.

At the end of the day, on paper, yeah.

We're all capable of making and discussing our own judgements on relative worth outside of what ends up being listed on the final pay check though too.

I'd be interested to see what he could do now with more experience if played purely as a small forward. Sometimes the "graduation" to the midfield turns some guys a bit vanilla. Do you pay $700-$800K for that though?

I definitely can't see him leaving unless the club decides to move him on (highly unlikely). I think he''ll resign for around $500k a year.

Will attract some attention this year and I'd imagine he will be on the radar of a number of clubs. Bombers and Suns are two clubs I could see having a decent crack at him. You'd think the Dogs would be keen to hold onto him though.

Essendon would be dumb to have a crack we are bordering on too many small mids as it is (Merrett, Parish, McGrath, Smith)

From the Dogs I would love to see Dunkley struggling for opportunity and request a trade elsewhere.

Could definitely see us being interested at the right price (especially if through FA, and not a trade), as long as getting him didn't cost us the chance to get someone who was a higher priority.

The fact he can play both forward and midfield would really appeal (we'd be able to rotate him, Steven and Gresham through those positions all game long) and his tackling would greatly appeal to us, given that our game is meant to be built on pressure.

Up forward we really would love to have as much pressure as possible and he would instantly bring more of that, but I do wonder if he'd rather go to a team who was promising to play him mostly in the midfield, if he was to leave WB.

I reckon we'd love to play him at least 50% forward, since we have a fair few who are really only suited to the midfield and we need to be playing them there most of the time, and we are crying out for someone of his quality up forward, who has high-level defensive attributes to go with a good offensive game.

Could see our 2019 first pick getting it done but is it worth it?

Just in isolation I'd say yes, especially if we go well this year and make finals, and it looks like next year with our list another year advanced and him and anyone else added we'd be likely to make it again- and potentially finish even higher- but the one thing that might make trading the future first risky is if you plan on going really hard at a Josh Kelly type or two next year, and you're going to need all the picks you can get to get the deal done.

So it's something I reckon you'd really have to weigh up. Might not be a lot of options though.

I used to really like him as a defensive forward in his first few years. Depending on salary space, I'd be happy for the Pies to make a play for him if he is to return to the forward line.

I expect Geelong to be the main players, but ultimately I see him staying a the Bulldogs.

If it's FA you'd look at it but not if you have to pay that salary and trade.
Depends also on what other alternative trade in options you have. Our midfield is stacked and our defence pretty good. Whereas outside of Hawkins our forward line is where we need to improve Menzel is a year to year proposition and the rest are unproven or injury prone. If we can't bring in a quality KPF (they are hard to get) then we probably look at smaller players like Dahlhaus.

The Dogs would match for a 2nd round pick imo.

I doubt it ... this year any pick in the first two rounds will be worth a heap. and for what has described as surplus to their needs ....

For Geelong to look at him he would have to be FA ... and they would probably have to think the smalls Geelong have will continue to be injury impaired... of wage I guess. I cant see Geelong paying premium for him..they would pay fair and reasonable . I have no doubt other would offer more.

If they make finals I can't see them accepting a pick in the 30's.
