Judd is a champion and it's ridiculous how much the ego of the Hawks supporters have distorted Hodge's abilities to make them think Hodge is even close. Well thats what you think. Hawks supporters see Hodge as the one of the best midfielders. Judd has had a crapo year, face it. Its true. Hodge is as close. It was in the papers, people are saying it and believe me they arent all hawks supporters. We like Judd but Hodge will always be better and this year Hodge HAS been better than Judd.

Gary Ablett is better than both Judd and Hodge but dont bring other players into it. We are talking about this year, HODGE HAS HAD A BETTER YR THAN JUDD.

Herein lies the crux of the issue.

Judd = the very best big-game player in the league over the past few years, bar none...forget the Brownlow, AA's, status as the game's best player etc, the fact is that he performs when it matters more than anyone else does.

Hodge = great in one big game, pathetic in another even bigger game...of course having only played 2 (?) finals in his career doesn't help, but the Hawks should remedy that in the next few years.

Re-open this thread if Hodge ever leads his team to a premiership, wins a Norm Smith medal, and has the status as the game's best clutch player.

But for now, it's no contest at all.

Judd was shortpriced brownlow fav halfway through year. Hardly a terrible year.
This is a shocker. Judd will win this by a mile. Only Hawks supprters will vote Hodge.

HE was not fav to win the brownlow. He probably was considering he is one of the games biggest names and round 1 you cant judge it so names like Cousins, Goodes, Bartel, Judd would be up there.

Haha yeah, what a fool, you can't expect someone to perform to their best when they're crippled with injury, eh? You told him I mean, Judd's first 12 games before succumbing to injury were crap anyway. He only averaged, what, 28 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles and a goal per game.

The op simply asks who is better, not who has been better this season. Maybe if you had have said that you wouldn't have been shown up as the fool as you have been.

Simple fact is that Judd's career has been miles better than Hodge's. Judd was one of the brownlow favourites about half through the season. Post that, Hodge has pipped a clearlly injured Judd. So Hodge has had a better half-season, forgetting the fact that Judd has been better for the previous five and a half seasons, and you begin to realize why everyone is picking on these hawks fans. As worththewaite so accurately pointed out, Judd before injury was in blistering form and on track for a second brownlow.

As for whoever said Judd can only play midfield, Judd played forward and still kicked two goals against Port with op, and had a better game than Hodge's last game no less. Fact is, Judd is a champ, better than Hodge.

Lets do some stats, how many brownlows has Hodge won? None? Okay. How about how many grand finals won while captaining the side? Or, how about just how many fins as captain? Oh, never been a captain? Okay. Face it deluded Hawks fans, Judd is better than Hodge. Once Judd does get over his op, he will become the player he was, awesome, brilliant, number one.

Hodge has been better this year, but is not a better player over his career. Not a great comparison really if you're comparing years. There's probably about 30 or 40 players that you could argue have had a better year than Judd. It's not actually anything to be proud of, bit pathetic really that you'd compare Hodge and Judd in a season that Judd has played injured, just so you can say that 'Hodge is better'.
