According to 5AA Lynch is set to miss the game against us with a claf injury. Apparently he was told that if he is to play he had to train tonight. He didn't.

I will believe it when I see. I expect him to play but if he doesn't we need a good match up for Leppa.

I told you he wouldn't play. :P

Now for the second half of my prediction, Voss to pull out given the 4 day break until they play Collingwood in round 3. ;)

I still think if he is good on friday he'll play.

4 day break?????? Are they playing on thursday or something??????

I think both will play.

I might also add that Roo and Hart are a bit doubtful.:(

Yeah, the Brisbane vs Collingwood is on Easter Thursday at night.

Given Voss needs to fly a few days earlier than the rest of the team and sit in a hyperbolic chamber to try and help his knee along I think it will be a huge challenge to get him ready in four days.

If it was a 7 day turnaround I think he would play. He may still play, but to me that would suggest Brisbane is very concerned they will struggle to win enough games to secure a home final.

If Voss breaks down due to a heavy season I think it will hurt them badly.

Hmm...Brisbane V Collingwood Thursday night, Monty Python's Life of Brian DVD Friday night...what a good start to next weekend!

As for Lynch, its handy, but dont get too excited. If Michael, Pike, White, Keating and Acker were also under a cloud, I'd be a bit more confident.

Pike is a monster. Pity he lost his way when he was with us. :P

Without Lynch and Brown it puts a heap of pressure on Pike. He kicked 3 goals against the swans but it was a low scoring game.

Brisbane will try and choke the game and get over a low score, if Adelaide can turn it into a shoot out and man up Johnson or whoever ends up the loose player in defense then I think Adelaide can kick a winning score at home easily.

I want to check the sportsbet odds on Adelaide to win. :)

I didn't realise that. I think you might be onto something mate. I hope you are right. If both miss I think that would be a huge plus for us but only if Roo and Hart play for us.

Don't bring the odds down too much, as this is one of the games I have the Crows winning in the first "round".

As I mentioned before Stiffy, I would be surprised if Matthews risked flying an underdone Lynch on a long flight for non-crunch game for the Lions. Lynch & the Lions have nothing to prove this game, given the last few encounters. Matthews will want to manage him through the season to ensure he fit & firing when it matters. Good news for us, but they still have plenty of matchwinners to worry about!

No question but it does help when you can take away certain 6 certain goals against the opposition.
Mind you even if Lynch doesn't play I think we will find it a bit tough to keep Leppa quiet since he will take Lynch's role at FF.

We have matchups for Leppa, as he is not the body player Lynch is. I'm now more concerned about winning the midfield, as that will probably determine the outcome of the game, given the forward lines are evenly matched.

He might not be a body player but he is one hell of a mark on the lead or in contested situations. I wouldn't put Bassett on him.

Pike will be an interesting one. I don't think we will play Kenny on him. I am looking forward to seeing how we match up.

Maybe we'll play Perrie on Lappa:rolleyes:

How about we put T-Potential on Leppa & the Hound on Pikey. I agree that unless Keating plays forward their may not be a suitable matchup for Kenny, so do we play him forward?

I reckon you will be right ... though remember how much trouble Perrie gave the Lions last year.

Big ask for Trent. I would play Kenny on Leppa and Trent on Pikey. Pikey would seriously expose Bassett's lack of sideways movement (his turning circle)

Actually I might be a bit harsh here but I don't see a match up for Hound

I would also be very tempted to bring in Torney and play him on Pikey.

Topjars, I think you might be right but personally I would play Perrie at CHF against Lions. He could rip Bradshaw to shreds if he clicks.

I suspect you are right. the way I have seen it in a last couple of years is that brisbane are a bit vulnerable against a quick, mobile forward line. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we had a FF line with Welshy, S. Stevens and Hentschel. Something we tried against West coast during pre-season.

It will be interesting to see which way we go at the slection tommorrow. I think Torney should come in one way or another.

Crows $2.20 and Lions $1.67, good odds. :) No Lynch, no Brown and maybe no Voss. Struggled to kick a winning score against the Swans and they play in Adelaide. Almost feel guilty placing a bet on the Crows. You better win. :P

Well i hope both you & TJ are wrong & Perrie will not lose his spot this week & i too remember how good the sarge was last year against the Lions.

Reports on the Brisbane board that Hart and Leppa both left the track early with sore spots and Hart apparently was looking distressed at the time although he did return later.

Lynch didn't train at all, Voss did his normal Wednesday training.

No Hart would be nice as he normally does a very good job on Macca.

Interesting how everyone is perceiving things from Brisbane's point of view.

Even though we were miserable at the weekend, I would have thought Adelaide at Footy Park would be considered more of a threat then the Pies at the Gabba. Also clearly the semi final turned as soon as Voss hit the park, leading to the conclusion that we can't match him up. Would have thought that they would do everything possible to play Voss against us, even if that meant missing against the Pies.

There is a big difference between not matching him up and can't match him up.

In the final at the GABBA we didn't have anyone on Voss. In the past Stenglein has picked him up and did a good job more often than not.

Yeah, fair enough.

Still stand by my first point though. We are more of a threat to them at Footy Park then the Pies are a week later at the Gabba.

Lets face it, measuring in degrees of crapness, it's pretty hard to divide us and the Pies after Round 1.

I agree with the point you make.

However, I think there is a bigger rivarly between Lions and Colliwobbles than between us and Lions. I am sure if you asked Matthews which game he would rather win he weould say against Colliwobbles.

I am sure he would say both but if he had to choose he would go for Magpies

I think Voss will play and I hope that Lynch doesn't. Power will also miss with a knee injury and Leppa is under done.

However, I wouldn't underestimate them. Brisbane at half-strength is still a very dangerous opposition.

No doubt. And since at the moment wet paper bags laugh at us, we will definitely have to pull our finger out.
