Just a heads up in case anyone's interested. Apparently Lynch's appeal will be covered live from the AFL.com.au website ... which is right about now. Here's the link.

Re: Quinten Lynch Tribunal: Live at 5pm AEST

Lynch's QC is contesting that the impact on Murphy was "low" rather than "medium," which if successful will be enough to bring Lynch's penalty points down enough to just mean a 1 match ban versus the current two.

At what point does someone yell out "You can't handle the truth?!" :D

As I recall the incident, Murphy got straight up and took his kick.

It's hard to imagine what would be judged "low" impact if that was "medium".

Players used to still have to travel across (from WA) to attend these hearings didn't they? how long has video links being available?

Interesting comment

Andrew Woods: "Do you agree that in making contact with an opponent, regardless of impact there's more chance of doing damage if you make contact with the head than with another part of the body?" Lynch: "Not if it's low impact, no."

Re: Quinten Lynch Tribunal: Live at 5pm AEST

Looks like Lynch will miss two, we'll miss him at Etihad as well he plays his best footy there.

Not so sure about that

We seem to have presented eveidence in keeping with the Tribunal booklet - showed a video of low contact.

Surely the MRP would need to provide a video of what is medium contact to mount a case. Would seem shabby otherwise.

In summing up - looks like our lawyer is again reading straight from the hymn book.

Anyway - short jury verdict is generally the best chance

No sure what any of that has to do with differentiating between low and medium impact?

Re: Quinten Lynch Tribunal: Live at 5pm AEST

It should be low contact. I thought high impact = being knocked out/going off the field, medium impact = being attended to by trainers but playing on low impact = falling over then getting up straight away (which is what Murphy did)

Yeah....this from David Grace - "Now disputes Woods' description of Murphy's head movement as "violent" upon impact. "I'd say it was anything but violent," Grace says. He argues that Murphy's head actually moved in the opposite direction, because he was trying to make sure he got a free. Also pointing out that Murphy got up, took his kick without problem, then followed his kick up and took part in the next passage of play. He was not attended to by any trainers, nor did he or any other Carlton player remonstrate with Lynch over the incident. He says that's a fair indication it was low impact."
