Oh Lyons... I love this kid :hearts::hearts: :hearts:

So glad he stayed. Not only because I rate him highly but it saves me from changing my avatar which took far longer to make than I'd care to admit haha:p

Good to see he's identified what he needs to improve on: fitness and outside run.

Here's hoping he delivers for us:thumbsu: . I BELIEVE IN YOU JARRYD!!!

I think he'll become more important the more Thompson slows down. Hopefully he gets himself really fit and has a cracking year.

Can't help but like a young bloke that's prepared to look inwardly at himself and admit his own perceived shortcomings and work his butt off to remedy them. Quality young man obviously with strong character. :thumbsu:

I'm backing him in to succeed!!

Good to see that he's aware of his shortcomings, doesn't make a fuss or complain about being hard done-by, just acknowledges that there's a problem and sets about rectifying it.

It's a good contrast to the guy we tried for and didn't get.

Didn't Jobe have knocks on his fitness and kicking? These things can be fixed, sometimes. He sounds like the kind if character most likely to improve.

Whilst I love the fact that Lyons is staying to play with us what I particularly love is that he wasn't tempted to leave and in fact he loves being in Adelaide. To many times (myself included) we get down about the city of Adelaide or our club's ability to hold onto players. It's one thing to have everyone on Big Footy talking down about the go home factor when in reality so many of our guys are genuinely happy to be here. Maybe we as supporters don't have a real appreciation of the environment that the AFC creates for our band of merry men.

I've always said Adelaide is a good city to be in if you have a good reason to be there...

Being paid six figure salary to play football is a good reason to be there... hence Adelaide is ok :thumbsu:

Great points.

So who were all those supporters claiming mid-season Lyons was unhappy in Adelaide & wanted to return home...

I don't think anyone said he was unhappy in Adelaide, just that his friends stated that despite being happy to be here he was miffed at the lack of opportunities and was seriously considering leaving for more game time with a few Melbourne clubs sniffing, as reported above. He obviously explored this option but thankfully decided to stay.

The kid is quality. He's hardly perfect, but really when was the last time we grabbed a player who had everything - not even Dangerfield can lay claim to that. Many times this season I've been impressed by both his ability to find the ball, but also his ability to use it in the forward half.

He's a goal kicking midfielder with poise and self-awareness - often we look just at what we can see and not what's between the ears. What lies there (and I'm going to call it spunk) is the difference between a player like Lyons (or heaven forbid McKernan) making it and not. Lyons has spunk by the bucket load.

I like the fact that he has worked out what he needs to improve on. Its funny how the footballers themselves seem to be able to accept a lot of the criticism directed at them much better than their fans.
Yep we had lots of footballers being dropped for being unfit, good to see he wasn't alone

Love the fact that he gave up a certain best 22 spot at Melb to do the hard work here to win his spot in the Adelaide line up

So many payers these days take the easy option, Lyons decision shows a real strength of character

Now the ball is in his court and if he carries that attitude towards training one cannot ask for more than that. :thumbsu:
