We don't need JUDD...

This is very silly...

This year, the next and the year after that I think we will have the potential to win the GF...without JUDD...

The only way it could possibly happen would be if Corey decided he wanted to go back home to WA. Then Geelong may look at it. But there is no way they would initiate a trade for Corey unless he wanted out first.

Could be done but Given debacle about trading a second string midfielder to Melbourne to get Ottens last time and all the talk about not wanting to break team spirit suggests it wont happen.

Has Judd actually confirmed he wants out yet?

For the sake of it , lets say he does want out. It then becomes interesting where he wants to go to and the spin that will be forthcoming to accompany the decision.

Once he picks a club , it will be interesting to see just what price WC can really command and hold out for.

What if Judd puts it to them that Dees (for eg.) are 1st choice , Melbourne offers early R1 pick , Late R1/EarlyR2 pick ( swap a player to another club for the pick) and a Round 2 swap WC/Melbourne or I can go to my 2nd choice Richmond for nothing. If he then says he will accept Melbourne or Richmond , no other club , I really doubt they will be able to demand him to go to another club.

I think in the clear light of day , WC can not afford to miss out receiving something for Judd. The other thing is the success of the WA U18 this year would be enticing for WC 4 or 5 picks in the top25 would be a very big long term win for them. Morton , Palmer etc would be too good to miss on.

What if he said , he wanted to come here( highly doubtful )
Our picks are all very late P17 would have to be matched with another two picks in the top 25. Maybe Prismall and Kelly and our R1 pick , and then try to fit him in our Cap.

I'm not sure we could do it

We don't need him for starters, and frankly even if we win the flag this year his preference is going to be to move back to MELBOURNE not Geelong.

We don't need more midfielders; we'll eventually be like the Eagles if we kepe on going where they have 8000 modfielders but little else. If anything, Geelong needs to start working on bringing up a young defense to take over in a few years when Scarlet, Milburn, Harley steps down (won't happen soon but always good to plan for the future.) We have a young forward line, a couple of good midfielders in the 2's; we don't need Judd. Great player he is, we have his area covered.
I think that Duskfire has some it up fairly well. We have blokes like Prismal in reserve (if he sticks around) and Davenport who is a run and carry player and should be promoted to the senior list. He could take some pressure off Gablett and could possibly push players like Tenace and Byrnes out of contention for senior selection. At the very least he will put severe pressure on them.

we dont need judd but i think we should see if we can leach out something from the outer. no doubt clubs that want judd will have to cough up first rounders and we can use our to boost our aging defense.

see if a team would over pay for our 1st pick to get them judd?

Unless Judd nominates Geelong as his prefered option then it wont happen. I doubt that we would make a play for him as his asking price of $1M per season plus is just about what Gaz & Scarlo get combined.

Don't get me wrong, if he wanted to come to remain in a finals side and was prepared to come to Geelong for less (and of course the current list sacrificed a few dollars to make room for him) then go for it. He has proven that when he's fit, he's one of if not the best in the comp so you'd be mad rejecting it. Just don't think we have the room in the cap or the bargaining power (pick 17 aint that attractive!).

Don't have the salary cap room, the $400k that King will free up will barely cover the pay rises most players will want.

What would you give for Judd?

CAN WE PROFIT FROM JUDD WANTING TO COME TO MELBOURNE?
(Due to my poor ability to scroll down I have changed this thread)

Corey for pick 3 would make me cry but it could acheive a few things.

1. Salary cap relief, it may free up enough room to hold our team together particularly Selwood & Hawkins
2. It may help us hold on to Prismall (more opportunity)
3. May be able to get a good price as Corey would be a ready made replacement for Judd
4. Corey is from W.A so may be interest in moving home
