They should have a club jacket in a colour that doesn't clash with either team (obviously gold would have been the go last night, since for some strange reason, the Hawthorn players weren't wearing gold) and, failing that, a fluorescent blue/pink/yellow/green/orange tracksuit...whichever provides the best distinction to the players' uniforms.

I've no problem with this but is it neccessary??!

I just cant fathom how a pro AFL player can think a podgy, middle aged man jogging about with a bag/bottle is one of his team mates!! Its just so ****ing stupid!

So how do you suggest the umpires tell the difference between runners and other club officials if they are all wearing the same thing?

Wear flouro pink or some other highly distinguishable colour. Not that hard really. Or get rid of runners (only half serious there).

On the Ch 7 coverage, Malthouse was being interviewed by Richo in the rooms. After a amiable chat for a few minutes, Malthouse stiffened and unleashed on the fact the Hawks doctor was in blue, implying it resulted in two wayward kicks leading to turnovers.

He was livid. Stared a hole through Richo and when Richo cut him off, e kept going. Then when they finally did wrap it up, Malthouse ignored Richo's thank you and walked off. Richo was visibly taken aback by how angry Malthouse was.

Does he have a point? I love Mick, absolute legend and I loved the passion. Called it straight and spot on as usual.

Could have been a bit nicer to Richo though, Richo's a bit of a softie.

Mick being rude, obnoxious and self serving to other people? Unprecdented...

What the doctor was wearing was only part of the problem.

For me the biggest concern was that he sprinted into space on the wing twice when Carlton were clearing the backline.

As for the umpiring, it's nothing different to what we've copped all year, especially in regard to reward for tackling. In both wins and losses this year Blues fans have been staggered by our inability to get a free kick for well executed tackles on players with prior opportunity.

Just on incorrect disposal. I thought there is a rule that if the ball is lost in the tackle its OK?
Some years they pay them some years they don't.
Ever since the North / West Coast game the umps have been letting everything go. Mick can't use last years rules as an excuse for a whine .. he knows things change in the quickly all the time.
Chopping the arms will be back soon etc.
Nice to see him in some good form I rekon he'll be good for the Blues.

Will cop a big fine.. Can't go back to slagging off the umps cause know one will do it etc.

Then that probably needs to change for anyone who might be on the field during play (no issues with the water guys who only run on after a goal).

We really need to change rules because two players stuffed up?

I don't remember the incident, so I don't know what the person's dimensions were, but I imagine that if you're running the ball through the midfield, with an opponent hot on your tail, that flash of navy blue, miles in the clear in the forward line, that you catch out of the corner of your eye would be like an oasis in the desert, or a free car space in Chadstone on Christmas Eve.

Hang on, we get a fine for wearing our own club colours. What have I missed ?

I'm more bemused why we wore our predominantly brown jumper, instead of our predominantly gold one.

No harm done though. We won. Play on.

I actually thought it looked really good in unison with the socks. If you've got to wear brown and gold then I think that's the best combination of it that I've seen.

Poor Richo. He his expression at the end was like that of a young schoolboy who just walked out of the principals office after getting a serious talking to.

Not sure that Mick really wants the umps to crack down on players dropping the ball as soon as they are tackled. Judd and Murphy are kings of it.
